There is no better introduction to tapas than this walking tour of Madrid, and what better way to learn than by trying all this glorious city has to offer. Your tapas tour of Madrid will start in one of the city’s busiest markets, right in Madrid’s centre. Here you will sample a wide array of tapas types and tastes, with your informative guide giving you the lowdown on all the dishes, as well as a little about the interesting history of tapas in Spain.
We continue our Madrid tapas tour by hitting the renowned beachside tapas bars in the south, where the seafood tapas varieties are as fresh and as tasty as you can find. While eating at these chiringuitos, we will learn a little about sustainable fishing programs undertaken in the region. If that isn’t enough knowledge for your tapas-indulged brain, a quick skip across the main square will have you in front of, and learning the history of the oldest restaurant in the world.
We continue on to one of the oldest neighbourhoods in the city, La Latina, stopping by a Copla tavern for some local wine, nibbles and music. A detour on the road to Huertas will land us at Madrid’s most famous craft brewery, before finishing our tour at a gorgeous, historical sherry bar. In an atmosphere that feels like it is still in the 18th century, you can make plans for the rest of your stay, before saying goodbye to your guide in the centre of Puerta del Sol.
