Luxor museum is the biggest open air museum in the world. It was the capital of Egypt for many centuries in ancient times, specially at the time of the Egyptian Empire or the New Kingdom (1580-1085 B.C.). it has the biggest place of worship in the world, covering an area of 100 hectares. Temple of Karnak covering an area of 100 hectares, Temple of Luxor built by kings Amenehotep III and Ramesses II and it was dedicated to the The Theban triad, Supreme god Amun, his wife Mut and their offspring Khonsu, the vast area of Valley of the kings with its royal tombs.
In 1979, it became a World Heritage Site and also the unique terraced temple of Queen Hatshepsut.
