Shorter walking days exploring the southern trails of La Gomera. The variety of the landscapes that you will see in such a small area is amazing and Gomeran hospitality is great. The shorter walking days will give you the opportunity to do other activities such as relax by the sea, snorkelling, kayaking or whale watching. These can be arranged when you are staying at Santiago. On day 2, there is a coastal walk to a quiet pebble beach. You will then transfer to start a walk in the mountains, largely descending to the sunny coast at Santiago via the beautiful hamlet of Benchijigua, poised dramatically under the Roque Agando - the mini Matterhorn of La Gomera. The following day, either relax by the sea or take one of the two walks on offer. On the fifth day, with picnic in hand you will be transferred to a point where you can easily ascend through the island's Laurisilva forest to the summit of Garajonay (1487m) with potentially great views of Tenerife, before dropping down to the village of Chipude and our simple mountain hotel. The following morning, you can transfer to the village of El Guro from where you follow the rough watercourse up to the Arure Waterfall and then descend down to Valle Gran Rey. After a night and morning, catch the bus to San Sebastian, check into your hotel and do the short historical walk around the town centre before enjoying your last dinner. La Gomera has a good infrastructure of roads, amenities and services, including good restaurants and small family run hotels.
family's every expectation. The Cornwall landscape and the
Southwest Coast Path are spectacular. The ports and
villages are charming and welcoming with lovely shops and
restaurants. Our accommodations were for the most part first
rate. The route was well marked and the materials helpful.
Sherpa Expeditions was professional and responsive
throughout. We are happily planning our next walking
adventure with Sherpa.”
