From the greatest Tibetan architecture Potala Palace, the bustling markets of the Barkor street, tourists can watch Tibetans as they prostrate around the most sacred temple Jokhang and monks debate in Sera monastery and enjoy the astonishing beauty of Holy Yamdrok Lake and Karo glacier and visit the Tashilumpo Monastery which stores the biggest copper Buddha statue in the world. Gyantse has the Tibet largest stupa with 100,000 Buddhist statues inside.

Your guide will meet you at the airport or train station and transfer you to your hotel. After check-in, you can enjoy some rest, as the remains of the day is free for you to explore the city. Overnight stay will be at Lhasa Yak Hotel.
After breakfast you will first visit the Potala Palace - the winter palace of Dalai Lama. It has been used since the 7th century kings of Tibet. The most valuable collection consists of the gilded burial stupas of past Dalai Lamas and meditation Cave. Then head to Jokhang temple which was founded by the 33rd great king of Tibet in the 7th century, in order to promote the Buddhist religion. Around the temple winds Barkor street where you can do kora (strolling along the Barkor street) with pilgrims and locals and buy the souvenirs. Overnight stay will be at Lhasa Yak Hotel.
After breakfast you will visit Drepung monastery which was one of the “three great” Gelug monasteries of Tibet and was founded in 1416 by Jamyang Choge. Ganden palace was used as Dalai Lama’s palace in Drepung before moving to Potala palace. Afternoon you will explore Sera Monastery, which was also one of the “three great” Gelug monasteries of Tibet, and was founded in 1419 by Jamchen Chojey, one of the Tsongkhapa’s main disciples. Overnight stay will be at Lhasa Yak Hotel.
Today, we have to drive from Lhasa to Gyantse. On the way, the group will pass over the Gampala pass (4790 m),and tourists will have a glimpse of Yamdrok-tso (4400m) .The Lake is surrounded by many snow-capped mountain and in the distance you have spectacular views of Holy Mount Nyenchen Khangsar, (7191m) the highest mountain near Lhasa .
We head westward along the lake and drive towards Gyantse. Gyantse was historically Tibet's third largest city (after Lhasa and Shigatse). In Gyantse, we will visit the famous Pelkor Monastery (also known as Gyantse Kumbum). The Kumbum has nine floors and each tier has unique chapels. It is considered the largest stupa in Tibet. In the morning tourists will visit the famous Tashi Lhunpo monastery where you can see the well preserved largest statue of Jampa (future Buddha) in the world. This monastery is the seat of Tibet's second highest incarnation, the Panchen Lama.
In the afternoon, we drive back to Lhasa on the friendship Highway. The distance is around 280km and it takes 6 hours along the Yarlung Tsangpo River / Bhamaputra River (the Longest and largest river in Tibet). Stay overnight in Lhasa.
Your guide will transfer you to the airport or train station and help you get on board.
