Explore one of the most biodiverse regions in the world during this 5-day guided trip of the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve, part of the Ecuadorian Amazon. Although only around 2 percent of the Amazon rainforest is located in Ecuador, it is home to a third of all known Amazonian biodiversity.

Travel to Lago Agrio, a small city that forms the gateways to the vast Amazon rainforest, and take a 2-hour bus ride to the entrance of the Cuyabeno Reserve. Spread over an area of around 603,380 hectares, the reserve is home to more than 500 different species of colorful birds, ranging from small hummingbirds to majestic harpy eagles, as well as numerous species of reptiles, mammals, and fish.

Hike through the primary forest of the reserve, where your local naturalist guide will explain to you about the unique animal, plants and insect species found in the Reserve. Go on a canoe ride down a river. If you are lucky, you will come across reptiles like anacondas and caimans (given that these creatures are timid, it is not often that you get to see them).

Meet members of a local ethnic group and learn more about their lifestyle. We will take you back to Lago Agrio after the trip is over.

“Traveling to the Amazon is an incredible experience. You sail in a canoe for a couple of hours on the river and then arrive at a lodge in the middle of the jungle and be in direct contact with flora and of course the wild life of the place, it was quite an adventure. The people in the lodge really did about the trip something unique, the service and the food was sensational and its warmth to share with the guests makes you feel very comfortable. On the other hand, the guide and his planning for the tours specially designed to enjoy the environment and feel part of it, as well as learn from all the life that the Amazon offers us.”
