The Tamang Heritage Trail tour starts from and ends in Kathmandu. It is a trekking trip that takes 12 days taking you through Kathmandu, Nagthali, Gatlang and 4 other destinations in Nepal. Tamang Heritage Trail is a guided small group tour that includes accommodation, transport, meals and others.

Experience the seldom visited Tamang region on this stunning short trek in the Tibetan borderlands. The 'Tamang Heritage Trail' is an exciting trekking route located between Langtang and the Ganesh Himal. A culturally rich region steeped in Tibetan tradition, the local Tamang people are some of the warmest and most welcoming people in Nepal. Within easy access of Kathmandu we ascend the road north towards the Tibetan borderlands and enjoy a circuit trek through picturesque villages, terraced fields, and peaceful valleys where few trekkers venture. Continuing north towards Tibet we soak up the heritage and appreciate a local fort, monastery and exquisite local architecture of the Tamang homes. We take a rest day in Briddim to observe the construction of the new monastery and discover more about the local traditions of this wonderful region. Away from the main tourist trail, Tamang is a rewarding Himalayan region to visit.
Please note that the condition of the trails in this region have changed since the earthquake of 2015. Trekkers should be prepared for a few sections of less defined trails, with some steeper and longer climbs and some longer trekking days. Some of the villages, including Briddim and Thuman, were damaged by the earthquake. We use the same trails as those used by the locals who live here, and you will observe first-hand the rebuilding and regeneration that is taking place here following the 2015 earthquake.

“What an amazing and breathtaking (in more ways than one) trek. Words cannot express how brilliant everything about this trek was. Randeep our leader was second to none he made every moment special and shared with us his extensive knowledge and deep love of the area. He united the group and his team so that at the end it was like leaving family, a remarkable young man. The sherpa guides looked after us exceptionally well anticipating our every need, always cheerful and attentive- special thanks to DB. Everything about the trek was extraordinary, the food was fabulous, fresh, plentiful and very nutritious - well done cook. The camping was magical especially High camp - an experience I will never forget - minus 15 degrees at 6.30am watching the sunrise over Everest. The trekking took us to beautiful passes and paths especially on the acclimatisation trips. But the highlight had to be achieving the summit of Gokyo Ri and then crossing the Renjo La pass all in the most perfect weather conditions. I would not hesitate to recommend World Expeditions to anyone considering any expedition and I would particularly recommend this trek. Well done to everyone involved and thank you so much for a trip of a lifetime. UK females aged 62 and 64!”

“Our guide was Bhim Bdr Khadka Thoki and he did an exceptional job. He listened to every request that we had and made our time in Nepal enjoyable and he created a truly unique and wonderful travel experience for us. Bhim was tireless in his efforts to keep us moving forward safely and made each day a challenge that we could manage. I cannot speak highly enough of Bhim’s care and attention to detail. He watched over us closely and ensured that our food was prepared hygienically so that we stayed healthy and happy and could get the maximum value from the trek. His knowledge of Nepal and the local environment was impressive. He was incredibly interesting to listen to and his personal experience of the Himalayan area was invaluable. Bhim provided us with an unforgettable travel experience that will be hard to emulate.”
