“The service of the Tibetan agency, Shambhala Adventure, that provides this tour did not like to me, I hired in the Nepal agency, Buddha Treks, a tour without the EBC but the Tibetan agency mixed people of my tour with those who went to the EBC, with which we had to expected them for more than 4 hours, losing a morning that we would have taken advantage of, as was foreseen in my voucher, to spend more time in Gyantse. In addition, I had the bad luck of catching altitude sickness and had to spend 5 days in a hospital in Lhasa. The Tibetan company, Shambhala Adventure, took advantage of this situation to try to charge me outrageous prices in the assistance of a guide, even though I had already paid in Nepal, for two extra nights in Lhasa and two extra days of assistance from a tour guide. They also told me that they didn' t know about my extra two nights. How could they have processed my Tibetan visa and permit without knowing this? The big problem is that when you hire from Kathmandu, you do not know what Tibetan agency you are hiring. Everything works with a strange halo of mystery and lack of clarity and transparency in the information. All you receive when you pay is a page with the route you will take, but you do not even have the name of the hotels where you will stop. The guide does not put any effort to tell you about Tibetan life and culture, which is what one expects in a trip of this kind.”

CHINESE VISA Tibet is under Chinese jurisdiction, so you are required to hold a valid Chinese visa (issued by a Chinese Embassy), as well as a valid passport. If you are coming to Lhasa from Kathmandu, it is advised to get a Chinese visa from Kathmandu (regardless of whether you already have a Chinese visa issued in your country) as a special administrative situation exists between China and Nepal. TIBET TRAVEL PERMITS There are two kinds of permits issued for traveling in Tibet: the entry permit (TTB permit, equivalent of a visa for Tibet) and the Alien travel permit (PSB permit). Travel Agency provides both types of permit. TTB PERMIT - TIBET ENTRY PERMIT When you fly into Lhasa you will need to show this permit when checking in at the airport. Also, in order to buy a flight to Lhasa in the first place you will need to show this permit. TTB permits are also needed by groups traveling by Land Cruiser, but this will be arranged by the travel agency organizing the trip. PSB PERMIT - ALIEN TRAVEL PERMIT If you want to travel restricted areas in Tibet, you will need an Alien travel permit issued by the PSB (Public Security Bureau) of Tibet. The Alien travel permit is also sometimes referred to as the PSB permit. Following personal detail and photocopy of passport are required minimum 30 prior trip date to procedure visa and travel documents for Tibet: full name, gender, date of birth, passport number, nationality. All information must be exactly the same as in your passport. In addition, we will need to know your occupation, as journalists and government officials/political personnel may require more complicated procedures in order to be issued a permit. Please be advised that you need to apply for the travel permit at least 15 days prior to your entry date.
CANCELLATION 20% Deposit payable upfront. Remaining balance payable 45 days prior to trip departure. Free cancellation up to 45 days prior departure, but the 20% deposit paid is non-refundable. No refund applicable within 45 days of departure.
