The Nepal - Raft and Hike tour starts and ends in Kathmandu. The Nepal - Raft and Hike is a Trekking tour that takes 15 days taking you through Kathmandu, Nepal and other destinations in Nepal.

A short trek, a rafting adventure and a wildlife safari. This amazing, all-encompassing journey explores Nepal by foot, raft and jeep! From Kathmandu we fly to Pokhara where we begin our trek into the stunning Annapurna foothills. We trek through Gurung villages and temperate forest with incredible mountain views. After a memorable sunrise over the Annapurnas the variety continues as we descend to the fantastic rafting section of the trip. We begin rafting from the beautiful town of Damauli, which is situated on the Madi river. With impressive scenery throughout, this comprehensive trip is concluded with an unforgettable jungle safari in Chitwan National Park.
You will be met by a representative of World Expeditions and transferred to the Radisson hotel. The remainder of the afternoon is at leisure. A pre-trek briefing will be given around 5pm where arrangements will be made for the distribution of your kit bag, sleeping bag and down jacket. Evening drinks are held in the hotel for all World Expeditions clients arriving today. Drinks and snacks will generally be served from 6:30 pm until 7:15pm, and this is a great opportunity to get acquainted with your fellow group members before heading out to dinner.
This morning a sightseeing tour takes in the key attractions in and around Kathmandu. We will visit Pashupatinath and Boudhanath, returning to the hotel by 2pm. In the afternoon you may have time to explore Swayambhunath, Durbar Square, Patan or Bhaktapur, and the lesser-known towns that dot the valley on foot, by bicycle or trishaw. The area has an amazing range of fascinating highlights, whatever your interest. Excellent bookshops, extensive markets, and novelty and handicraft shops contrast with fantastic centres of cultural and spiritual significance - Kathmandu has more World Heritage sites than any other city in the world.
Meals
  • Breakfast
This morning we take a flight west to Pokhara, Nepal’s second largest town (820 m). On arrival you are greeted with sights of the entire Annapurna Range. The drive to the roadhead at Phedi takes around two hours. Our trail then winds uphill through terraced fields and mixed oak and rhododendron forest. There is no need to rush. This is a short day with plenty of time to reach camp. The trail ascends for the first hour, following a ridge through fields of bamboo clusters to magnificent rhododendron forest. Villagers greet us with “Namaste”, the traditional Nepalese greeting, as we pass their homes and continue to the ridge top where at the crest the scale of the mountains astounds us, with Machapuchare (6993m), Hiunchuli (6441m) and Annapurna South (7219m) in our immediate viewpoint. Overnight eco lodge.
Meals
  • Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
After a glorious mountain sunrise we follow the trail through rhododendron forest before continuing through a series of Gurung villages where lifestyles have not changed substantially over the centuries. After lunch we follow a well-marked trail to the prosperous village of Landruk where we camp for the night. Our private eco campsite affords dramatic views of Annapurna South.
Meals
  • Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Our destination today is easily seen across the valley, the attractive Gurung village of Ghandruk. We exit the village and slowly descend through rice terraces, crossing a steel bridge that spans the glacial river of the Modi Khola and commence our ascent. As we trek up the many staircases, we enjoy the beauty of the Himalaya at a relatively close range and observe the glaciers flowing from them to form the rivers below us. It really is a magnificent location and a photographer’s delight. Our leisurely approach along these ridges with their fine mountain views ensures proper acclimatisation and the un-hurried opportunity to fully savour this magnificent scenery. Overnight at our private eco campsite.
Meals
  • Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Our trail meanders uphill through fields and into forest of rhododendron, magnolia and lichen covered fig. We pass by waterfalls that cascade down narrow gullies that provide the perfect home for many small ferns and delicate plants such as exotic orchids bursting with colour. We over night in an eco lodge in a town called Ban Thanti.
Meals
  • Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
A short walk brings us to near Chitre where we join the old Tibet-Nepal trade route. The walk this morning offers excellent views of the Dhaulagiri range as the trail zigzags until we reach our lunch stop at Ghorepani. This is a sizeable town which is on the main tourist trail. You may wish to wander through the bazaar for a short period following lunch, as there are many Tibetan wares on display and also a bakery or two. Ghorepani is the last stop before we head into the more uninhabited regions of our trek.

Most trekkers to Ghorepani take a pre dawn 45 minute climb to the summit of Poon Hill (3200m), which is a highlight of trekking in the Annapurnas. We will make the climb in the afternoon, when there are no crowds. From Poon Hill we leave the main trail and traverse on old yak herder trails to Upper Phulbari, which is set above the level of Poon Hill. The location affords even more spectacular views which we enjoy from the comfort of our eco lodge and with the luxury of no pre-dawn start, unless of course you chose to photograph the stunning views at sunrise.
Meals
  • Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Our start this morning is an uphill walk for an hour. We get excellent views of the mountains while walking in the dandas which is higher than Poon Hill. We eat lunch at Jaljala and continue for 2 hours downhill walk till we reach our camp at Swarga. Our private eco campsite is above Les Par and surrounded by trees.
Meals
  • Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Have your trekking poles at the ready today as our descent is approx. 1000m. We pass through interesting villages situated on steep rocky hills and terraces. The villages we pass are mixed communities of predominantly Gurung, Brahmin & Chettri. The final descent into Nayapul is 20 minutes on stone stairs. We will board the bus for Pokhara and our private eco camp. Once settled in we highly recommend you take a stroll down to the lake at Pokhara, there are many stores selling Tibetan wares which are less expensive than Kathmandu. The main street running along the lake is vibrant and an interesting place to sit and watch the world go by.
Meals
  • Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
After the rafts are rigged, we will set off down in the Seti River. We spend our time mostly within the forested canyon with rich vegetations which is remnant of the vast forested area which covers the mid hills of Nepal. Even today, we are objects of curiosity to the locals. Travelling by rafts is a perfect way to view undisturbed wildlife. We make a lunch stop where you have time to explore, photograph, bird watch, swim or relax.

The villagers are mostly Gurungs, who are renowned for generations of service with the British and Indian Gorkha Regiments. We will set up camp near the village of Dhap.
Meals
  • Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Today we explore the local area above our riverside campsite. This will offer an interesting insight into Nepali village life, rarely seen by outsiders. You can do some short hikes through the upper village in the morning and after lunch swimming in the river. Guides will advise activities and whether swimming in the river is advisable based upon their knowledge of the local river conditions. Please consult guides prior to swimming in the river. Overnight Dhap campsite.
Meals
  • Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
After breakfast the rafts are reloaded and we will set off down in the river again. We will encounter a technical grade III rapid and leave the Seti Khola (river) behind and enter Trisuli River. From here the middle hills recede and the Terai plains open in front of us. The topography of this area is mostly sandstone and gravel deposited by antecedent rivers.

After lunch we drive to Chitwan National Park. Chitwan National Park is the first national park in Nepal. It was established in 1973 and granted the status of a World Heritage Site in 1984. It covers an area of 360 sq. mi and is located in the sub-tropical Inner Terai lowlands of south central Nepal. Chitwan has a tropical monsoon climate with high humidity all through the year. Overnight Lodge.
Meals
  • Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Chitwan Adventure Resort includes jeep safari, elephant breeding centre, canoe safari to see many numerous birds, an evening of Tharu dance and a village walk. All accommodation is with en-suite bathrooms and hot showers. 6 sumptuous meals are included with park fees. You will be accompanied by experienced and well trained local guides from the area.
Meals
  • Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
We complete our last activity, and after breakfast transfer by road to Kathmandu.
