Manaslu Circuit Trek is one of the best treks in the Himalayas. Located in Gorkha District, the region adjoins with the Tibetan Plateau offering its trekkers an amazing adventure experience. Manaslu Circuit Trek offers exploration around remote villages, beautiful valleys and amazing mountain views coupled with crossing challenging Larkya La Pass at 5135 meters. The trek also includes both high and low altitudes, where one can discover the hidden wonders and the region’s flora and fauna for a lifetime experience. The trail is followed through the sub-tropical forest to the dry arctic zone near to the border of Tibet.

Manaslu Circuit Trek starts with a day drive to Soti Khola from Kathmandu. Our drive leads through zigzag hilly road of Prithvi Highway upto Malekhu. From there we will leave the main highway and continue our drive along the gravel road passing through Arughat Bazaar to reach Soti Khola. Our trek starts from here, and we follow several ascending and descending trails, passing through dense forests, beautiful paddy fields, remote villages and mind capturing valleys. We will spend an acclimatization day at Samagaun and Samdo in order to avoid altitude sickness problems and for exploration. We will visit several Buddhist monasteries and classic lama settlement areas with monasteries and mani walls that are highly influenced by the Tibetan culture.

After a day exploration at Samdo, our trail heads up to Larkya Phedi situated at the base of Larkya La Pass. Next day, we cross the adventurous Larkya La Pass at 5135 meters. Our tiring climbing to the top of the pass is rewarded with striking views of Annapurna II, Gyagi Kang, Menjung, Kang Guru, Himlung and Cheo Himals. After a short rest, we begin to descend over a steep slope towards Bimtang. Our trail descends downhill through serene alpine forest and meadows towards the main trail of the Annapurna circuit at Dharapani. Our memorable trek ends with a scenic drive from Syange back to Kathmandu.

Himalaya 360 Grad
Read more

Other Practical InformationAccommodations: As per our published quotations, we have calculated the cost based on three star categorized hotels/resorts in major cities which can be easily changed as per the preference of the clients. Apart from the cities, entire route of Manaslu Circuit Trail contains comfortable tea houses for overnight stay where we choose best of the best available lodges. Accommodations in all places can be used as per Single, Double, Triple and Twin sharing basis as per requirements. Meals: We generally provide BB Plan in cities so one can choose varieties of foods in different restaurants in around the town. During our organized trekking of Manaslu Circuit, we will provide all meals (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner) where you can choose varieties of foods; Nepali Continental, Tibetan, Indian, Italian etc from the menu. While we are trekking, you will get dinner and breakfast in a same tea house where you stay overnight and take en-route lunch way to next destination. Physical Conditions and Experience Required: Manaslu Circuit Trail contains amazing routes which starts from very low altitude’s scenic paths and gains the altitude until we reach at one of the adventurous Larkay La Pass at 5135 meters. This trek is suitable for adventure motivated trekkers who have ability to walk generally 5/6 hrs per day by carrying light private backpack. The difficulty level of trail determines by level of snows in the trail - sometime the larkay la pass contains massive snow walls and sometime the same pass could be very easier with less snows. In some cases, walk in a high altitude may attract altitude sickness, as we know that prevention is better than cure – slow and steady walk would be the perfect solution. We suggest every trekker who are planning to come Nepal for trekking adventure to do daily around an hour physical workout (jogging, hiking, cycling, gym, etc) prior to a couple of weeks. Mountaineering technical skills are not required for this trek, but previous short trekking experience would be good. Best Season for Manaslu Circuit Trek: Trekking in Nepalese mountain is a seasonal activity. Basically, 3 months in autumn – September, October & November and 3 months in spring – March, April & May are the perfect time for trekking. During this time, weather should be clear, sunny and warm, giving us great views of mountains. Nevertheless, some adventure-seeking clients who do not want to walk with crowed environment also can choose December, January and February months for this trip. Monsoon season three months (June, July and August) will be ruined by rains.
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS Find answers to the most frequently asked questions about this tour.
  • How much money do I need to bring with me?

Your personal budget obviously depends on your spending habits and what is included in your trip cost. If accommodation is included, but meals are not, we would suggest that you bring around 30 USD per day per person for meals. Having a hot shower or charging your device sometimes costs extra. There are also sometimes small crafts/souvenirs to buy along the trekking route which you may want to bring extra money for. Also, consider whether you would be staying in Kathmandu or Pokhara before or after your trek.

  • Is quarantine in Nepal in effect for arriving visitors?

There are no quarantine requirements in Nepal for arriving visitors at the moment.

  • How much should my backpack weigh?

A properly packed backpack (not including your day pack) should ideally not weigh more than 13 kg. It is also important to note that if you are taking a flight to the start of your trek, many smaller aircraft have weight restrictions. For example, if you are flying from Kathmandu to Lukla, you are only allowed 10kg of checked luggage, and 5 kg of hand baggage. Thus, in case of a small flight, you should ideally pack a 10 kg backpack for checked luggage, and then add 5 kg in your hand baggage. You can then re-shuffel the weigt once you start your trek at the trailhead.

  • Do I need a porter?

The decision to hire a porter is up to you and usually based on your fitness level and/or budget. One porter can be shared between two people and can carry up to 25 kg. Many trekkers hire a porter to have a more comfortable trek.

  • Do I require a porter for carrying water?

On most popular treks you can expect plenty of places where you can refill your water bottle, meaning you don’t need to carry a huge water supply with you. Bring an extra bottle of water if you are concerned. If you already have a porter, you can ask him/her to carry water as long as it is within the weight limit. Another option is to carry water purification tablets or LifeStraw, both of which can be found in Kathmandu.
