  • Soak up the scenery on less crowded trails in the Everest region
  • Cross the Renjo La (5400m) and climb Gokyo Ri for one of Nepal's best and broadest views of 8000m peaks
  • Walk alongside Ngozumba glacier, the longest glacier in the himalayas
  • Trek through Sherpa villages to the stunning turquoise Gokyo Lakes
The tour "Gokyo & The Renjo La In Comfort" starts and ends in Kathmandu. It is a trekking trip that takes 17 days taking you through Gokyo Ri, Thame, Monjo and 9 other destinations in Nepal. "Gokyo & The Renjo La In Comfort" is a guided small group tour that includes accommodation, transport, meals and others.

A spectacular high altitude trek to the sublime Gokyo Lakes, with a crossing of the Renjo La into the Thame Valley offering unparalleled views of Mount Everest.. The perfect trek for those who wish to avoid the busier trails in the Everest region but still gain stunning views of Everest. Trekking slowly through Sherpa villages and yak pastures we emerge into the stunning Gokyo Valley with its beautiful lakes, and from where we ascend Gokyo Ri for one of the finest views of Everest and surrounding peaks including Cho Oyu in Tibet. From our remote high camp west of Gokyo we prepare for the highlight of the trek, the crossing of the Renjo La. The views of Everest are incredible as we weave our way to the top of the pass at 5400m, before our descent to Mirlung along a rarely trodden trail where we are unlikely to see other trekkers. Undeniably trekking at its best in the Everest region.

“If you are at all hesitating about reserving your place on this trip, don't! It is breathtaking in every sense of the word. The trek is really well designed to give you the best chance to acclimatise and the guides will keep you to a sensible pace. I embarked on my trip with some trepidation but I strongly believe that with the right attitude and flexible approach it is achievable by most people. Our guide (Dilli) was first rate and the consummate professional, the camps were well equipped and comfortable and it goes without saying that the views are out of this world. 5 stars!”

“Our trek to Gokyo Lakes and Renjo La was made all the more special by the outstanding care and individual attention we were given by our trek leader, sherpa guides, cook and porters. The views on this trek are outstanding and the path to Gokyo is much quieter than the busy EBC trek. We were lucky to have a small group of like minded individuals who were also respectful and considerate travellers whilst possessing the most important ingredient - a sense of humour.”

“I just came back from the Gokyo & Renjo La trip. It was hard, it was cold and it was amazing. I enjoyed every minute of this very satisfying trip. The views were magnificent and photographs do not do it justice. It was extremely well organised and the cook (labeled by us as the Magician) made some wonderful food in some challenging places. I am 60 and completed it easily so strongly recommend this fantastic trip to anyone.”

“Thoroughly enjoyed everything about the trek. A wonderful way to experience the mountains and nature. And what a view!! At all times I felt safe and well cared for by all the Guides and staff. Food was fantastic, tents and beds comfy but do bring a sleeping mat. Sleeping bag and provided jacket were so warm and perfectly adequate. Do as much exercise raising your heartbeat as you can before hand, it will just make it more enjoyable when your there. Go as slow as you like, I did, and enjoyed the views. And bring a simple card or other game (not heavy) to enjoy with the staff in the evenings, they appreciate the interaction and its a lovely way to make a memorable trip.”

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS Find answers to the most frequently asked questions about this tour.
  • How much money do I need to bring with me?

Your personal budget obviously depends on your spending habits and what is included in your trip cost. If accommodation is included, but meals are not, we would suggest that you bring around 30 USD per day per person for meals. Having a hot shower or charging your device sometimes costs extra. There are also sometimes small crafts/souvenirs to buy along the trekking route which you may want to bring extra money for. Also, consider whether you would be staying in Kathmandu or Pokhara before or after your trek.

  • Is quarantine in Nepal in effect for arriving visitors?

In response to the current Covid situation, rules for arriving visitors may change frequently and sometimes without notice. Please check the government travel pages and advisories of your home country and the official website of the Nepal Tourism board here.

  • What happens if someone gets altitude sickness, does the rest of the group continue on?

It depends on the situation. Sometimes, altitude sickness can be treated and the trekker may wish to continue. If not, the rest of the group can continue on if they want and the sick person can descend.

  • How does it work with a porter?

Generally, the porter will pick up the baggage in the morning and drop it at the hotel in the evening. You will not always be walking with your porter or have access to your bag during the day, while trekking.

  • Is a visa on arrival available?

Typically, yes. However, in response to the current Covid situation, rules for arriving visitors may change frequently and sometimes without notice. It may be necessary to obtain a tourist visa in your own country before travel. For updated information on visas, please check the Nepal Tourism Board and the Government of Nepal Immigration websites.
