How much money do I need to bring with me?

Your personal budget obviously depends on your spending habits and what is included in your trip cost. If accommodation is included, but meals are not, we would suggest that you bring around 30 USD per day per person for meals. Having a hot shower or charging your device sometimes costs extra. There are also sometimes small crafts/souvenirs to buy along the trekking route which you may want to bring extra money for. Also, consider whether you would be staying in Kathmandu or Pokhara before or after your trek.

What is the weather going to be like when I travel to Everest Base Camp?

The weather in Nepal varies by season. For example, November to January is the dry season with sunny days, clear skies and usually no rain. However, on Everest Base Camp, the temperatures at this altitude will be cold, particularly at night. February to May and September to October is the most popular time to travel to EBC, with usually fairly dry and stable weather, although there may be the occasional shower. June to August is monsoon season in Nepal, but once you pass 3,000 meters altitude there is less and less rain. In the excluded section, “meals and drinks while trekking” is listed. Does this mean water on the trails and food/snacks while hiking and regular meals?

Yes, this is correct. For this tour, meals, drinks, and snacks need to be paid for by yourself while on the trek. For any EBC trek, you need to arrange your own water. It would be a good idea to carry water purification tablets or LifeStraw. You can easily find these in Thamel, Kathmandu. Bottled drinking water costs 2 USD per bottle in the EBC region.

Is quarantine in Nepal in effect for arriving visitors?

There are no quarantine requirements in Nepal for arriving visitors at the moment.

Are there bag weight restrictions for the small aircraft flight from Kathmandu to Lukla?

Yes. The baggage weight allowance on the flight from Kathmandu to Lukla is 10 kg for checked baggage plus 5kg for hand baggage for a total of 15 kg. Bags overweight will be charged approximately USD 1 per kg over the limit.

This trek is for trekkers who like altitude and who are looking to push themselves. It is a rather tough trek so you should be reasonably fit. If in doubt, we recommend adding a porter who can carry up to 30 kgs and can be shared between 2 people. Our ascent will be steady and well-paced to suit the acclimatisation needed, ensuring that we reach Everest Base Camp safely.
