Board an exciting flight to Lukla from Kathmandu on the second day of the trip and trek to Phakding. Travel through the Dudh Kosi Valley to the Sherpa capital of Namche, a bustling bazaar that’s a junction for trekkers. From Namche, we trek along a high-traversing path where you will get the first glimpse of Everest.
See Tengboche Monastery, located 3867m above sea level and surrounded by dwarf firs and rhododendrons. The monastery is structurally located on the top of a ridge with commanding views of the surrounding landscape.
Descend to Imja Khola and continue to the villages of Pangboche and Pheriche before finally approaching the Khumbu Glacier. Follow the glacial route to reach Lobuche and trek uphill to Gorakshep and Everest Base Camp the next day.
Enjoy majestic views of the Himalayas from Kala Patthar (5545m) before starting your journey down. Please note that this trek is particularly strenuous as there are many ups and downs and the itinerary doesn’t allow us for proper acclimatization days. This trek is designed for those who have good physical fitness with some prior trekking experience and are comfortable doing this trek in a limited timeframe.

Having just successfully completed this trip, I can confirm that not only was it one of the best travel experiences Ive ever had, (the scenery and nature is unbelievable!) but the organisation and care from start to finish was seamless. A big thanks to Sujan @ Alpine Club of Himalaya for arranging and taking care of me so well, throughout the entire course of my trip and stay.
If you are considering this 12 day option, then please be aware that it is very physically demanding and a good level of fitness is required to ensure the trip is a success & you make it to Base Camp!! In total I spent 7 days on the ascent and 3 days on the descent. Having completed the trek in May (a great time to go) the climate changed everyday - starting with hot, humid temperatures and ending with very cold, harsh weather close to BC.
Throughout the course of my trek I was always looked after and advised by my guide/porter, of which was allocated to me by Alpine Club of Himalaya. He ensured that I was aware of each days leg of the journey, the stops we would make, where we would be staying, the surrounding scenery & mountains, my safety & well-being, all my food requirements and was there for general company/conversation (something I welcomed being a solo traveller).
I cannot recommend this trip & Alpine Club of Himalaya highly enough. I have had nothing but a fantastic experience and would certainly arrange another trip via them in the future.
Thank you so much for everything!”

What is the weather going to be like when I travel to Everest Base Camp?
The weather in Nepal varies by season. For example, November to January is the dry season with sunny days, clear skies and usually no rain. However, on Everest Base Camp, the temperatures at this altitude will be cold, particularly at night. February to May and September to October is the most popular time to travel to EBC, with usually fairly dry and stable weather, although there may be the occasional shower. June to August is monsoon season in Nepal, but once you pass 3,000 meters altitude there is less and less rain. Check out our guide on the best time to visit Nepal for more on specific monthly climate and seasons.

How much money do I need to bring with me?
Your personal budget obviously depends on your spending habits and what is included in your trip cost. If accommodation is included, but meals are not, we would suggest that you bring around 30 USD per day per person for meals. Having a hot shower or charging your device sometimes costs extra. There are also sometimes small crafts/souvenirs to buy along the trekking route which you may want to bring extra money for. Also, consider whether you would be staying in Kathmandu or Pokhara before or after your trek.
- Are there bag weight restrictions for the small aircraft flight from Kathmandu to Lukla?
-
How much should my backpack weigh?
A properly packed backpack (not including your day pack) should ideally not weigh more than 13 kg. It is also important to note that if you are taking a flight to the start of your trek, many smaller aircraft have weight restrictions. For example, if you are flying from Kathmandu to Lukla, you are only allowed 10kg of checked luggage, and 5 kg of hand baggage. Thus, in case of a small flight, you should ideally pack a 10 kg backpack for checked luggage, and then add 5 kg in your hand baggage. You can then re-shuffel the weigt once you start your trek at the trailhead.
