The tour Ama Dablam Base Camp Trek starts from and ends in Kathmandu. It is a trekking tour that takes 14 days taking you through Monjo, Namche Bazar, Debuche and 6 other destinations in Nepal. Ama Dablam Base Camp Trek is a guided small group tour that includes accommodation, transport, meals and others.

Trek above Namche and camp beneath the awesome flanks of Ama Dablam on this popular short trek in the Everest Region.. This is our most popular introduction to trekking in the Everest region. This trek weaves through the famous Buddhist villages and monasteries of the Sherpa people while affording unparalleled views of some of the world's highest peaks. The highlights of this trip are the days spent trekking above Namche Bazaar. Here we get beyond the established trails beneath the awesome flanks of Ama Dablam. From our spectacular vantage point we gain a breathtaking 360 degree mountain panorama that culminates in the distinctive summit of Everest looming above the Nuptse-Lhotse wall. A further dimension to our trek is a visit to the Sherpa villages of Khunde and Khumjung where we visit some of Sir Edmund Hillary's projects established through the Himalayan Trust.

“We had several people ask us about the yellow litter collection bags, and it was a good opportunity to explain what we were doing (Ten Pieces).”

“The guide Padam was outstanding!! Highly attentive to our needs. Experienced, well informed and knowledgeable. Did everything to make our experience everything it was supposed to be. Padam did not miss a beat right up to coming to our hotel on the last night to see us off. The other team members (L.B in particular) were also amazing and were hugely important in making this experience all that it was.”

“What a trek, it was amazing, on top of the world. We were blessed with perfect weather right up until the last day when we were walking in the clouds. As usual WE looked after me so well. Everything was excellent from the camps to the food and Sanjay our guide. I loved the yaks and mules with their tinkling bells. It was very special seeing Everest but Ama Dablam base camp was very special.”

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS Find answers to the most frequently asked questions about this tour.
  • How much money do I need to bring with me?

Your personal budget obviously depends on your spending habits and what is included in your trip cost. If accommodation is included, but meals are not, we would suggest that you bring around 30 USD per day per person for meals. Having a hot shower or charging your device sometimes costs extra. There are also sometimes small crafts/souvenirs to buy along the trekking route which you may want to bring extra money for. Also, consider whether you would be staying in Kathmandu or Pokhara before or after your trek.

  • How much should my backpack weigh?

A properly packed backpack (not including your day pack) should ideally not weigh more than 13 kg. It is also important to note that if you are taking a flight to the start of your trek, many smaller aircraft have weight restrictions. For example, if you are flying from Kathmandu to Lukla, you are only allowed 10kg of checked luggage, and 5 kg of hand baggage. Thus, in case of a small flight, you should ideally pack a 10 kg backpack for checked luggage, and then add 5 kg in your hand baggage. You can then re-shuffel the weigt once you start your trek at the trailhead.

  • Do I need a porter?

The decision to hire a porter is up to you and usually based on your fitness level and/or budget. One porter can be shared between two people and can carry up to 25 kg. Many trekkers hire a porter to have a more comfortable trek.

  • Do I require a porter for carrying water?

On most popular treks you can expect plenty of places where you can refill your water bottle, meaning you don’t need to carry a huge water supply with you. Bring an extra bottle of water if you are concerned. If you already have a porter, you can ask him/her to carry water as long as it is within the weight limit. Another option is to carry water purification tablets or LifeStraw, both of which can be found in Kathmandu.

  • When should I arrive in Kathmandu before the tour?

We suggest that you arrive at least one day prior to the start day of the trek because the tour operators usually require one working day to arrange trekking permits. Arrive earlier if you want to explore Kathmandu on your own or acclimate to any time differences.
