The Everest Base Camp trek is world-class trekking journey into the high Himalayas that takes you to the base camp of the highest peak on Earth, Mount Everest, the nearest place where a trekker can reach without any technical climb.

Everest Base Camp gives unparalleled Himalayan views of some of the highest mountains on earth, a sight that people cannot find anywhere else in the world. Everest Base Camp itself is used for Everest climbers who are on their way up to attempt to summit Mt Everest. Since Sir Edmund Hilary and Tenzing Norgay made the first successful summit of Everest in 1953 A.D.

We begin our Everest Base Camp trek with an exciting short morning flight to the starting point of our trek, Lukla, a small village in the Everest region. From here, our trekking commences, trekking up to Phakding and Namche Bazaar, the capital of the Khumbu Region. We take a day's rest in Namche to be able to acclimatize better to the altitude, when we trek higher up in the following days.

Our EBC trek also has a stopover at the magnificent Tengboche monastery, with unforgettable views of the peaks surrounding it. Then, we continue further to the north through one of the original Sherpa settlements in this region, Dingboche. After resting another extra day in Dingboche for further acclimatization, we continue our trek. The landscapes become more remote and desolate as we make our way closer and closer to the highest summit on earth. Finally, we are rewarded for our efforts as we achieve the ultimate goal to reach Everest Base Camp. We enjoy this extraordinary atmosphere and also do a hike up the small trekking peak of Kala Patthar at approx. 5600 meters. Finally, we start to trek back towards Lukla, from where we again board a flight back to Kathmandu.

Please see the itinerary for further details. We look forward to taking you on an amazing trek of a lifetime.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS Find answers to the most frequently asked questions about this tour.
  • How much money do I need to bring with me?

Your personal budget obviously depends on your spending habits and what is included in your trip cost. If accommodation is included, but meals are not, we would suggest that you bring around 30 USD per day per person for meals. Having a hot shower or charging your device sometimes costs extra. There are also sometimes small crafts/souvenirs to buy along the trekking route which you may want to bring extra money for. Also, consider whether you would be staying in Kathmandu or Pokhara before or after your trek.

  • What is the weather going to be like when I travel to Everest Base Camp?

The weather in Nepal varies by season. For example, November to January is the dry season with sunny days, clear skies and usually no rain. However, on Everest Base Camp, the temperatures at this altitude will be cold, particularly at night. February to May and September to October is the most popular time to travel to EBC, with usually fairly dry and stable weather, although there may be the occasional shower. June to August is monsoon season in Nepal, but once you pass 3,000 meters altitude there is less and less rain. Check out our guide on the best time to visit Nepal for more on specific monthly climate and seasons.

  • Is quarantine in Nepal in effect for arriving visitors?

There are no quarantine requirements in Nepal for arriving visitors at the moment.

  • Are there bag weight restrictions for the small aircraft flight from Kathmandu to Lukla?

Yes. The baggage weight allowance on the flight from Kathmandu to Lukla is 10 kg for checked baggage plus 5kg for hand baggage for a total of 15 kg. Bags overweight will be charged approximately USD 1 per kg over the limit.

  • How much should my backpack weigh?

A properly packed backpack (not including your day pack) should ideally not weigh more than 13 kg. It is also important to note that if you are taking a flight to the start of your trek, many smaller aircraft have weight restrictions. For example, if you are flying from Kathmandu to Lukla, you are only allowed 10kg of checked luggage, and 5 kg of hand baggage. Thus, in case of a small flight, you should ideally pack a 10 kg backpack for checked luggage, and then add 5 kg in your hand baggage. You can then re-shuffel the weigt once you start your trek at the trailhead.
