The Drakensberg Walking Tour tour starts and ends in Johannesburg. The Drakensberg Walking Tour is a trekking tour that takes 8 days taking you from Johannesburg, South Africa and through other destinations in Africa.

Spectacular day walks in the Drakensberg Mountains. The World Heritage listed Drakensberg Mountains are the highest mountain range in South Africa, known in Zulu as the 'Barrier of Spears', where towering peaks and pinnacles resemble spears. Spectacular canyons, cliffs, near vertical escarpments and gullies form an ideal terrain for the keen walker wishing to explore and scramble through this rugged wonderland on a series of day walks from our comfortable hotel bases. The highlight of the trip is the strenuous ascent of the Amphitheatre.

“The World Expeditions, Ultimate Annapurna and Dhaligiri was excellent. The experience of the wilderness on less-travelled tracks was a highlight. The Nepali guide and trek staff were very professional and helpful.”

“Fantastic trip. The scenery was unbelievable. Our guides were extremely friendly, knowledgeable. The pace was as fast or as slow as you liked. Fantastic trip and highly recommended. Only complaint was the fires in the common room on arrival should be lit on arrival if requested.”

“Our trek was 14 days plus 3 days in Kathmandu with World Expeditions. It was so well organized with our guide Tikki and crew looking after us so well. Tikki would not compromise our acclimatization up to Gokyo - it was so important. The changing landscape was amazing. Through pine forests, over raging wild rivers on many suspension bridges, ever changing paths and wow views around every corner. Our first view of Everest took us by surprise but pretty soon it dominated the horizon. The barren moraine at Gokyo looked like a moonscape with many cairns along the shore. The walk up Renjo La was tough but we made it ok joining many other trekkers at the top to take our photos of Everest et al. Our highlight was breakfast at high camp in the sun at minus 12 degrees looking at Everest above us. An amazing beautiful country and definitely a memorable adventure. Great group and weather were two other pluses.”
