- Once-in-a-lifetime experience
- Enjoy fun outdoor activities like boating, hiking and river swimming
- Visit the massive Paradise cave
Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park is tucked away between Laos and the coast, almost 200 kilometers north of Hue. Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng National Park is home to the largest cave in the world and covers 300 different grottoes and caves. Reachable by train or car through Dong Hoi city, it is home to natural scenic wonders and friendly locals.
The jungle, the river, the cascades, the single trails and the narrow winding concrete roads all make the area a paradise for any active traveler in search of fun. The beauty of the sceneries and a simple but nice little lodge will make your journey across Vietnam a memorable one.
Day 1 :
You will be picked up by your guide in the morning then head straight to the buffer zone of the national park.
We reach a quiet town and board a small motor boat to the Phong Nha cave. It takes about 20 minutes on the river to reach the spot, pristine and beautiful. We turn off the boat’s engine when entering the cave. You’ll also get a chance to get off the boat and stroll around.
We then cruise back to another pier and drive further toward the national park on a peaceful countryside road to Chay Lap village.
After a home-cooked lunch, we will get an introduction of the farming practices in this region. Depending on the time of the year, we will have a chance to discover the different crops and participate in some agricultural activities.
Later, we reach a beautiful place where a river offers nice cascades and natural pools. We walk along and over the river on small bamboo paths, swim and enjoy the cascades.
We then get back to the homestay, where you can give a hand in dinner preparation.
After having local breakfast at Chay Lap, we go along a small winding road to the Paradise cave (Hang Thien Duong). Discovered in 2005, it is 31 kilometers long and 100 to 150 meters high. It is the longest dry cave in Asia, found by British Caving Research Association in 2005, and is located in Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park’s core zone.
We then get back in the car and drive to a local restaurant for fresh drinks and to taste their specialty: roasted chicken and veggies.
After lunch, the car transfers us to Dong Hoi either at the beach, at the airport or train station depending on your program.
