Hue and Hoi An are two of the best places in the country to experience the traditions, culture and rhythms of Vietnam. However, this Central Vietnam tour is not just about sightseeing but also about engaging with the locals and gaining an understanding of their traditions through a series of excursions.
We have also included visits to area charities to learn more about what is being done to improve the living conditions of the underprivileged, resulting in a meaningful holiday in central Vietnam.
This tour brings you to the ancient town of Hoi An to explore some old constructions, as well as take a full day tour in Hue to discover historical tombs and traditional food.
DAY 1: DA NANG SIGHTSEEING CITY TO HOI AN (L)
8:00 – 8:30 am: Pick up in Da Nang and depart to explore My Son Holy Land. Although it has existed for a long time and was destroyed by war, it still retains the architecture in its whole. The site was later restored by local government. So far there have been no scientific explanation as to how it was built.
Enjoy lunch and rest a few minutes before walking to explore Hoi An.
Hoi An Ancient Town is an attraction which makes visitors spellbound. Through ups and downs, the pull of the old town does not decrease. At Hoi An we can go sightseeing in Japanese covered bridge, Tan Ky ancient house and Phuc Kien assembly hall. Don’t forget to enjoy the famous local food here.
DAY 2: HOI AN TO HUE (B, L)
9:00 am: Pick up in Hoi An and transfer to Hue. On the way we will stop to visit Marble Mountain with Non Nuoc stone carving. This little village in Hoi An is a fairyland with a dreamlike scenery, pagodas and grottoes. We can see a large Buddha statue and a lady Buddha statue inside the cave system which were built by the Minh Mang emperors. We can also visit and explore the Stone Carving Village at the foothills of the mountain.
Van pass – The main attraction of Hai Van pass are the incredible views of ocean and clouds. It is also known by its pet name “Ocean Clouds pass”.
At 12:30 pm we will have lunch and continue the trip to Imperial Citadel – the ancient capital of Vietnam. The citadel was built in 1805 by the Nguyen Dynasty Emperor Nguyen Anh. This area is an aggregate of ramparts, palaces and architectural works of the royals and includes Thai Hoa palace, Hung temple, Trieu temple and Duyet Thi Duong royal theatre. The citadel is over 200 years old but is still undergoing changes with nearly 140 small and large constructions.
Next we visit an ancient pagoda in Hue - Thien Mu pagoda before getting on Dragon boat to cruise the Perfume river.
At the end of the tour our driver will drop you off at a hotel in Hue.
DAY 3: HUE ROYAL TOMBS TO DA NANG (B, L)
We depart at 9:00 am after breakfast for some sightseeing in Hue. We visit the Khai Dinh tomb which is a blend of Western and Eastern architecture. Next is Minh Mang tomb with impressive symmetry of architectural constructions.
For lunch we have local food in Hue before coming back to Da Nang.
