Longji Rice Terraces and Ethnic Villages Tour

Join us on this 8-hour, guided tour and explore Longsheng County, home to the famous Longji Rice Terraces, which is located around three hours northwest of Guilin. Your English-speaking coordinator will pick you up at your hotel lobby between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM depending upon the location of your hotel. Please note that you will be provided with the exact time 1 day before the tour starts, normally after 6:00 PM, by a phone call to your hotel.

Upon pickup, leave the city and head for the countryside dominated by Zhuang and Yao ethnic minority villages. Learn more about the culture and traditions of these two ethnic groups, see their unique and colorful clothing, listen to their melodious folk music and watch the playful dances.

Enjoy a traditional Chinese lunch before traveling to the next destination, the Longji Rice Terraces. A 30-minute hike offers amazing vistas of this incredible feat of farm engineering. The ethnic minorities fled to these mountains during the Yuan dynasty, when they were hunted by the government. Since they were involved in agriculture, they carved the terraces out of the hills to continue farming.

Climb to the top of a hill from where the terraced rice fields resemble the backbone of a twisting-and-turning dragon. Tiers of water glisten on these terraces during the spring, lush green rice shoots appear in the summer, layers of golden rice flourish in the fall and snow covers the terraces in the winter.

Transfer back to your hotel in Guilin city centre after the tour is over.
