The Granada And The Alpujarras tour starts and ends in Granada. It is a walking tour that takes 8 days taking you through Granada, Berchules, Alpujarras and 3 other destinations in Spain. Granada And The Alpujarras is a self-guided tour that includes accommodation, transport, meals and others.

An exhilarating walk in the Alpujarras, through Moorish villages and stunning mountain landscapes. From the intriguing city of Granada to the lofty heights of the Alpujarras, the focus is firmly on culture and mountain landscapes. Small and surprisingly cosmopolitan, Granada offers a bizarre mixture of ancient history and modern living. There will be time to visit the Alhambra, the spectacular Moorish monument which is a must-see. After two nights in the city, you will move up into the mountains, to the Alpujarras. This beautiful area still reflects its Moorish origins, recalling times when groups of Moors inhabited these hills resisting the Christian Reconquest. In this fascinating historical context, the Alpujarras' high elevation makes for an ideal alpine experience with the snowy peaks of Sierra Nevada, as a backdrop. All sorts of crops thrive in the Mediterranean climate: olive orchards, orange and lemon groves, almonds, figs and grapes. Amidst this abundance you will enjoy dramatic views from the enchanting white-washed villages as you walk among terraced fields and along the irrigation channels which survive from the Moorish era.

“This walk takes you to places and towns you wouldnt get to. The hotels were all good, the walks challenging but very satisfying with every day being different. We loved this part of Spain as it is off the beaten track, often we didnt see anyone else on the walk. Granada is a great kick off point with the wonderful Allambra.”

“Granada and the Alpujarras was a brilliant experience and a wonderful introduction to the Sierra Nevada region and the Moorish history of Spain. The scenery was spectacular from the white-washed villages to the incredible wildflowers, the many rivers and irrigation channels and the snow-covered mountains. The walks were varied and allowed for easier options if desired or longer, more challenging hikes. We highly recommend the trek to the Siete Lagunas from Trevelez. The accommodation was excellent throughout, luggage transfers were prompt and efficient, the meals provided were great and the staff always friendly and helpful. The route notes and maps and additional information compiled by S-cape Travel in Spain were comprehensive and easy to follow. We especially appreciated the deviations from main routes onto local paths which meant we met hardly any other walkers on any of the days.”
