“The organizers of our trip must’ve known Spain very well because they chose very interesting cities to visit and also knew the best tours to take in each city. The itinerary was very well organized and properly balanced. And it was a pleasant surprise to be able to stay in each of the carefully chosen hotels in the various cities on the tour. Those hotels had excellent accommodations as well as European buffet breakfasts and usually also a nice restaurant and lounge to relax in in the evenings. At first I was concerned about how well we would be able to use the Spanish railroad system to go from city to city. But it was actually quite easy And I forgot how relaxing taking the train can be. It is much quieter than an airplane and it was always enjoyable to look at at the Spanish countryside rather than white knuckling ones way driving along unfamiliar roads. Basically it was very simple to order a taxi cab to get to the train station . Most of all in each of these wonderful cities we had a carefully chosen tour by a local tour agency that had been pre-scheduled as part of the overall travel package. All of the people we met were very nice and we made some good acquaintances along the way. I believe this is probably an excellent way to discover other countries and even to revisit them if one is not been back to Europe for a while.”

“A word to thank you for the perfect organization of our trip to Andalusia. It was a very beautiful discovery and thanks to our guides, Davinia in Seville and Georges in Granada we had a lot of interesting information and could visit places that we would not have found! In their company we had a great time! Thank you all very much, you have concocted the trip we wanted! We will not hesitate to talk about you!”
Unspoilt high mountains and verdant valleys in one of the most beautiful regions of Europe.

“The Sierra Nevada is the highest mountain range in mainland Spain. They remain snow covered well into the Summer and these walks take place in the wooded valleys in their foothills. The sound of running water seems always to be in the background. The bird life is rich and varied and we heard the cuckoo on our first day. Nightingales and golden orioles and eagles and falcons were viewed with awe and delight. The walks are pretty challenging but rewarding. Conditions under foot are variable but generally reasonable. The Hotel art Los Berchules is a place of repose and delight. The food is first rate and the owners and staff delightful dedicated and friendly.”

Granada — Tour Highlights and Travel Tips

Tour Highlights

  • Alhambra, the most famous landmark of Granada, is an awe-inspiring 13th Century fortress perched on top of a hill east of the city center. Throughout the history, this vast complex served as a royal court of both Muslim and Spanish kings.
  • On a hill facing the Alhambra, you will find Albaicín, Granada’s old Muslim quarter. With its beautiful white-washed façades, a myriad of charming shops and spectacular views of the city, this neighborhood the ideal place to soak up city’s rustic atmosphere.
  • Cathedral Granada is a majestic construction that dates back to 16th century. It is known for its opulent Renaissance interior and a magnificent, 30-meters high dome.
  • Nestled in the heart of the city, the Royal Chapel houses the tombs of the Catholic Monarchs, Isabella I of Castile and Ferdinand II of Aragon. It is a stunning architectural fusion of Gothic and Renaissance styles.

Travel Tips

  • The Sierra Nevada mountains lie to the south of the city and are an ideal getaway destination for skiing (in the winter) or hiking and mountain biking, when the temperatures are warmer.
  • Sacromonte, Granada’s Roma neighborhood, is known for its bohemian, artistic character. If you are looking to catch a spontaneous flamenco performance in the middle of the street, this lively district is your best bet.
  • If you are visiting Granada during scorching summer months and find yourself in dire need of refreshment, make sure to try tinto de verano, a mixture of red wine and gaseosa, a mild-flavored lemonade.
