Island peak in beginning of June

Hi, I am planning to climb Island peak in the beginning of June as I'll be on Everest base camp trek prior to this starting in mid May.

As I am planning to do the EBC trek and Island peak climb independently, I wanted to know if any special permit is needed for this or I can use the permit I'll get for EBC trek?

Also, is anyone familiar with sports shop in Kathmandu or Lukla where I can hire camping gear?

    Hi Neha,

Yes, Climbing permit from Nepal Mountaineering Association is needed for climbing Island Peak or any NMA peaks in Nepal, so the national park permit and TIMS for EBC trek can not be used to climb Island Peak.

Regarding the camping gears, there are plenty of shops in Kathmandu to hire gears.

    Hi Rina

    Two days in Kathmandu:

    - Monkey temple
    - Boudhanath Stupa
    - Garden of Dreams
    - Pashupatinath temple (were funerals take place in Kathmandu)
    - Perhaps visit the royal king palace, close to Durbamarg

    Hope above was helpful.
