“Rocking up for the first time in Niagara Falls can to overwhelming. It mostly screams 'classic tourist trap' if you don't know what you're doing. We were so grateful that we joined this tour within 2 hours of arriving, just after dropping our luggage at our hotel. Steven is amazing - super passionate about his local Italian cuisine. There is no way we would have found these fantastic family owned restaurants by ourselves. We were lucky to be the only two travellers on Good Friday. Steven helped us to plan out our next two days in Niagara Falls. If you don't do this tour, you haven't tasted the best of Niagara Falls!”

“Dago's knowledge and enthusiasm was just what I needed to start a visit to Barcelona and provided the insight into the food and local sights en-route ready for my week ahead. I was the only person on this tour but that didn't have any bearing on what we did.”

“I was especially impressed with Dalia’s dedication: on one day we visited the Pyramids in the morning and went directly to doing the walking tour of Cairo that afternoon. It was very hot, it was during Ramadan so Dalia was not eating or drinking, and it was a long day of walking and talking but she never flagged. My trips were somewhat rearranged in order from what I’d booked, to accommodate another traveler, and that was handled very well. Dalia manages the inevitable glitches that come up in any adventure with aplomb, and offers a very good balance of presence and time for personal explorations. Her willingness to engage with myself and the other woman on several of the trips about the role of women in our various cultures was insightful. She truly is an outstanding guide, and I wanted to let you know.”
ITINERARY

Prepare your taste buds for an epic private foodie adventure around the local’s favourite market in Florence! This private food tour offers an array of Italian treats (that’s breakfast sorted!) and an insight into local food and culture from a an expert local guide.

Together we’ll check out typical delicatessens where Florentines do their daily shop for fresh ingredients. Most of these establishments are owned by local businessmen and women and they usually specialise in the specific products that they sell, making them the city’s ultimate food experts. For instance, on our first stop, we’ll introduce you to you to an award-winning third generation butcher, who is training his two sons to take over the family business.

In keeping with the family-theme, our next foodie stop will be an artisanal cheese store owned by a brother/sister duo. This is one of the few places left in Florence where you can still buy the ancient grain bread of montespertoli (your guide will explain) and enjoy a taste of their cheese accompanied by this delicious, traditonal bread.

We will also check out C BIO, an organic farm to table store, created by a famous Florentine Chef Fabio Picchi whose famous Cibreo cafe, restaurant and theatre are all situated in this district.

Fresh pasta is next and we’ll take you to a market stall that offers 15 different types daily, all made fresh on the premises. Here you’ll learn about our regional pastas including ravioli, pici & tortelli and you’ll see the wonderful homemade sauces that pair perfectly with each type of pasta.

After the pasta maker we’ll head off to meet the baker to try some of the best fried polenta and coccole in town. A coccole is a savorury donut typically served with stracchino creamy cheese and prosciutto perfect with a glass of chianti.

Platters of Tuscan and Emilian specialites follow, from another of our favourite market sellers, including Pecorino Toscano, Parmiggiano Reggiano (aged for 36 months), Prosciutto di Parma, wild boar salami and finocchiona.

Your private tour will end with an Italian-style coffee at a lively indoor bar, close to the market. Before you go, don’t forget to ask your expert local guide for more tips on what else to see, do and (most importantly) eat during the rest of your stay in Florence
