- An original and comprehensive itinerary that meets the most demanding customer expect
- Guided Tour of the Uffizi Gallery & Vasari Corridor
- It’s only for small groups (max 25 people)
This exiting guided tour will start at Palazzo Pitti going backwards through the ideal “Prince’s Itinerary”, to see from the outside the elevated passageway which connects Palazzo Vecchio with Palazzo Pitti, in the Oltrarno district, passing through the Uffizi Gallery and over the Ponte Vecchio.
After seeing the elevated passageway (which we will later walk on) we will cross Ponte Vecchio, one of the city's best known images, famous for its gleaming gold shops. At the center of the bridge you can enjoy breathtaking views of Firenze.
We will then reach the elegant Uffizi Palace, designed by the architect Giorgio Vasari. The museum is considered one of the most important in the world and hosts a number of invaluable pieces of art including Birth of Venus and the Allegory of Spring, considered the maximum symbol of sublime beauty.
After the guided visit of the Uffizi Palace we will visit the Uffizi Gallery where you can enjoy a break of approx 30 minutes. Hereafter we then resume the guided visit right at the entrance door to the Vasari Corridor, the amazing elevated passageway which you have seen from the outside while walking from Piazza Pitti to Piazza Signoria. You will have the privilege to walk through the suggestive passageway, following the footsteps of the “Prince’s itinerary”.
The passageway was commissioned on the occasion of the wedding between Francis I and Joan of Austria and built with the idea of giving Florence a precious jewel and allowing the Grand Duke to move freely (and safely) between his residence and the government palace.
As you enter this passage you will swiftly be hit by a deep sense of emotion: the corridor is a royal passageway that runs over the heads of the citizens of Florence. The corridor has a superb collection of paintings and a row of round windows of the aerial passageway offering breathtaking views over the hills, the Arno river, its bridges, the palaces and churches of the city. You will admire the magnificent collection of artists’ self-portraits from Vasari to Italian and foreign artists of the 20th century. A face to face encounter with artists that doesn’t exist in any other museum in the world, a discovery that will print an indelible memory of Florence in your mind forever.
