About Durban City
Durban, South Africa
Durban (population: 2.78 million), the third largest city of South Africa, often gets ignored because of its cooler cousin Cape Town, but those few tourists who do manage to come here are treated to a fun-loving lifestyle, exciting attractions, a newly revamped waterfront and picturesque locales.
The star attraction of Durban is its buzzing downtown, home to beautiful art deco architecture and spectacular colonial-era buildings. Durban also feels like mini-India. It hosts the largest concentration of people of Indian origin outside the country so it isn’t surprising to come across authentic Indian restaurants, spicy flavors and beautiful cultural displays in Durban either. Other things to do in Durban include uShaka Marine World, Durban Botanic Gardens, Suncoast Casino and Entertainment World and Mitchell Park Zoo.
How to Get Around
The Durban People Mover, a bus service that operates along many routes, is an excellent choice while in Durban. While using a taxi, make sure that you go for one of those metered cabs. Other options include richshaws, particularly along the Marine Pde.
