  • Discover this emerging travel hotspot before the crowds do. Fewer than 100,000 tourists arrive here every year, which is sure to change as word spreads about Djibouti’s untouched natural wonders.
  • Strap on a snorkel and dive into the waters of Arta Beach, where (if you’re lucky) the whale sharks that fill the waters will decide to keep you company during your swim.
  • Take an epic hike over the dramatic ravine in Foret du Day National Park to the top of Ardoukoba Volcano, then spend the night camped in a dead forest.
  • Spend the night in a traditional Afar hut in the Grand Bara Desert, perched on a hill with spectacular views of the surreal landscape.
Start and end in Djibouti City, the trip Djibouti's Footsteps Of The Afar is a guided trekking tour that takes 11 days. You will travel through Lake Abbe, Obock, Djibouti City and 4 other destinations in Djibouti. Djibouti's Footsteps Of The Afar is a small group trip which includes accommodation, transport, meals and others.

This active exploration along the edge of the Horn of Africa is not for the faint of heart. However, if you want to experience life like an Afar nomad, float on one of the world’s saltiest lakes, snorkel in search of whale sharks and travel in a country with incredible cultures but very little tourism, then this is the adventure for you. The scenery is diverse and spectacular, with everything from volcanoes to hot springs and salt flats ready to be discovered. Get active on hikes to Lac Assal, Ardoukoba Volcano and Foret du Day National Park, then relax on the beach at Plage des Sables Blancs and drift to sleep belles etoiles (under the stars) at Allouli. Be the first person you know to come home raving about dreamy Djibouti.

“Great for first timer to India - it covers a range of places with different vibes starting from the hustle bustle capital to very small local villages, safaris, and 'touristy' cities (trust me it's actually nice to be able to have a proper coffee and/or go (window) shopping after 10 days of indulging in local culture.) And touristy places in India are far less busy like what you see in other countries.

Our tour guide was very well-organised and very helpful for those who required extra assistance - like losing baggage / passport / remembering wrong flight times / having gold fish memory (yes... this all happened in the trip..). You would't need to worry if you're clumsy or forgetful as Intrepid tour guides will have you covered.

The itinerary is skewed towards a leisure one hence why the average age of our group is 50+ ranging from late 20's to 70's. If you're simply looking for a cultural experience I'd say this is the perfect choice. But if you're a bit more active and adventurous like me then you may feel too protected and bored somtimes.

Lastly some tips for shopping - save your money until you get to Udaipur as there's many more options and prices are a lot better. That way you don't need to lug around extra weight early in the trip too. Remember to bargain at expensive & bigger shops (those are the wealthy ones and they rip you off by a big margin) and not so much at the smaller shops (they aren't as rich!). Tour guides would sometimes hush you into particular shops unfortunately.. but don't feel pressured to make a purchase (easier said than done though) as those shop keepers are good at pitching.”

“The trip was well planned and we saw the most amazing nature in Montenegro and Bosnia-i-Herzegovina. We had a night in Pluzine near lake piva where the accomodation could have been better. The guide and driver/mechanic were a great team and both of them did an excellent job”
