The Mikumi National Park is one of the most popular national parks in Tanzania and this is because it is easily accessible from Dar es salaam. Mikumi National Park is named after a village, which in turn takes its name from the Swahili word for Borassus Palm, which once grew there abundantly.
This park can be visited in a single day from Dar es Salaam but, if you have more time, this charming park warrants a longer stay. The wide expanses of the Mkata Floodplain are full of wildlife: lions, wildebeest, impala, eland and buffalo migrate across the plains. In the Miombo woodland on the foothills of the local mountains greater kudu and sable antelopes can be seen. More than 400 species of birds have also been sighted in Mikumi.
Pick you at your home or hotel, Ferry or airport in Dar-Es-Salaam in the morning and travel 283 km to Mikumi National Park. Lunch stop at the restaurant in Morogoro town, then proceed with a drive to the park where you will enjoy an evening game drive until sunset. This is a home to Elephants, Lions, Wild dogs, Zebras, Hyena, Buffalo, Wildebeest, Eland, Hartebeest, Crocodiles, Lizards and other residents. Over 300 species of birds have been observed in this park.
Dinner and overnight will be at Mikumi Wildlife Lodge.

Early morning game viewing in the park. Mikumi's vegetation includes woodland, swamps and grasslands with two water holes, Mkata and Chamgore. Apart from the saddle-bill stork, hammerkop and malachite kingfisher, you will also see the monitor lizard and a deadly python inhabiting the pools. Back for hot lunch and rest in the hotel. Evening game drives at the park until sunset when you will come back to the hotel for dinner. After dinner, enjoy a night game drive which will start from 8 pm to midnight. This is your chance to see a lot of nocturnal animals.

Early morning you will have a cup of coffee then transfer to the park gate where you will meet the an armed range ready to start your 3 hour bush walking safari.Wilderness walking safari will give you a particularly intimate feel for the African wilds. Walking safaris offer a good chance of seeing giraffe, zebra, elephant, and good birding. After breakfast, depart for Dar-es-Salaam.
It will take 2 hours for the drive back to Dar-es-Salaam where you will arrive late afternoon and we drop you off at the airport, ferry or hotel of your choice.
