  • Bathe in the Lares hot springs in the heart of the Sacred Valley
  • Trek through local Quechuan communities teeming with centuries old traditions
  • Enjoy a homestay with a local family before heading on to Ollantaytambo & Machu Picchu
Nestled in the Sacred Valley, the Lares Valley gives you a beautiful experience of life in the Andes. Centuries old tradition and culture are still present in the region to this day. The locals of this valley always provide a warm welcome for visitors, which makes this a special place to spend your time trekking.

On this two-day trek, embark on a journey through traditional native communities and see how the people thrive using local resources.

Starting at the Hot Springs of Lares Valley, you’ll pit stop for lunch after a fairly long drive from Cusco in the morning. After lunch, follow a trail for about four hours to the first campsite of Huachuasi. Here llamas & horses of the many of the farmsteads graze out in the open.

On the second day, head deeper into the valleys and see many traditional quechuan farm practices, whilst also scaling a 4,800 m mountain pass. During the descent, you’ll pass a mountain lake in Ipsaycocha and reach the town of Patacchanta for lunch.

Trek to Huilloc, a traditional Andean community, where you’ll spend the night at a homestay and take part in some local customs while enjoying a pachamanca-style dinner. On the final day, continue to Ollantaytambo to explore the ruins.

At the end of the trip, you can either decide to go back to Cusco or the Sacred Valley or onwards to Machu Picchu.

“This wasnt just your average planned trip, I was in a bind for a last minute trip, looking online I discovered Unu Raymi Expeditions. James was the best trip planner I could ask for, he was very accommodating to my needs, even helped me out when I got to Cusco & put me up for a couple of nights. He organised & operated my 2 day Lares Valley trek, trip to machu picchu, day tour to salt mines, moray and sacred valley! His team are very professional and handle everyone to their needs and wants in treks and tours around peru! I had met James personally as I was travelling alone, hes a great planner as well now a great friend! I plan on returning soon and meeting up again with James!”
