Join us for a half-day guided walking tour around Cusco, where you can visit the famous Koricancha Temple, explore San Pedro Market and take in scenic San Blas. The pace will be slow with stops along the way to learn about Incan and colonial architecture, stone carvings, ancient practices and anything else you’d like to ask your guide!
At 9am our professional guide will be waiting in the main Plaza de Armas located in the heart of the Cusco historical district. Look for at the King Pachacutec statue, carved for the man whose brilliant vision led to the design and building of Machu Picchu.
With your guide, walk the charming narrow Inca streets to Koricancha, the famous Temple of the Sun God and other deities. Koricancha Temple is considered a sacred and treasured Inca structure. Enter the Temple for a guided tour, where you can learn about what happened when the ancient world of the Incas collided with the colonial invaders from Europe.
Continue on foot to San Pedro Market to see fascinating displays of animal products from the farms, alluring flowers, exotic fruits, as well as textiles and trinkets of all sizes. This is also a great place to return to buy souvenirs before you return home!
Finally, we will walk up short, steep cobblestone street to the picturesque San Blas neighborhood to see original colonial structures, some of which were built incorporating old Inca walls, around a plaza which is the heart of this neighborhood. Anchored by a colonial church, the Iglesia de San Blas was constructed in 1544 and built on top of the Inca Temple "Illapa”. Cafes and small shops in hidden doorways await those who have time to return to explore on their own.
The tour returns on foot to the main plaza. If needed, your guide is at your service to assist you with directions back to your hotel.
