Costa Rica Eco Tours
Costa Rica is a shining example of a country embracing ecotourism as a means to protect its natural wonders. The country boasts nearly five percent of the world's known species, and it is making great strides in protecting them and their habitat. On a Costa Rican eco tour, you can visit national parks such as Corcovado and Tortuguero which are committed to protecting the lush rainforests and elusive wildlife such as sloths, jaguars and sea turtles. There are also a variety of eco-friendly activities to try. Enjoy a zip-line ride through the forest canopy, go on a white-water rafting expedition, snorkel among marine creatures, or simply relax at a natural hot spring in Arenal Volcano. Throughout your Costa Rica eco tour, stay in eco lodges and forest retreats. Travel while keeping your carbon footprint is low. The Costa Rican way of life is ‘Pura Vida,’ which means pure life lived in harmony with nature. The spirit of ‘Pura Vida’ resonates throughout our Costa Rica eco tours, teaching you to appreciate and preserve the delicate balance between nature and humankind. Costa Rica Eco Tour Reviews
Honest insights from past guests on our Eco Costa Rica tours
I thoroughly enjoyed the ExploreWorldWide cycling trip from Nicaragua to Panama. The itinerary length and route were excellent, and our group dynamic was exceptionally positive—welcoming, diverse, and without cliques. Our group leader, Mike, set the tone from the start with a smooth airport pickup and consistently strong leadership. He was knowledgeable, communicative, and great at preparing us for the varied conditions across the three countries. The support team was outstanding: skilled drivers who navigated challenging traffic with confidence, and a hands-on bike mechanic who kept everything running smoothly. Accommodations ranged from good to excellent, with consistently friendly staff. I also appreciated the food options and the straightforward system of everyone settling their own bills. Most excursions were engaging and well organized; the only exception was the afternoon nature walk, which could be improved. Overall, I would highly recommend this trip to friends and family.
An excellent way to explore Central America on two wheels—what a ride! I loved every segment of the tour. Just a heads-up: you’ll need more than basic cycling skills… and a truckload of grit. Some of the dirt roads, especially the downhills, are the kind that make you suddenly remember every loved one you’ve ever had. Definitely not for the faint-hearted. About the hotels: a few of the one-night stays were… let’s say “character-building.” The stop in Turrialba in particular did not meet even basic standards. Explore, you can do better—please save future cyclists from that experience. Now, about our tour leader, Mike. After ~15 tours across ~20 countries, I’ve finally had a tour led by a real pro athlete. And wow—what a difference. Mike’s professionalism, enthusiasm, ocean-level patience, and that trademark toothy smile made even the toughest (undualating😄)climbs feel manageable. He set the bar so high that my future tours may need oxygen just to reach it. Absolutely recommended. And if you’re lucky enough to get Mike, prepare to have your expectations ruined—in the best possible way.
A fantastic tour for sure, made all the better by an excellent tour guide (Tayron) and a very competent and accomodating driver (Andres). Tayron was a mine of information and had an encyclapedic knowledge of the wildlife we saw. Nothing was too much for them and they ensured all our requests were met.
I would recommend this trip to anyone considering it! There’s no way I could have planned such an amazing trip and fit so much into 10 days! Our guide Jose has been amazing, he absolutely made our trip and I can’t imagine how it could have been improved. He is completely organised, considerate and brings a fun energy to the trip that made the whole experience an unforgettable one! He is so knowledgeable about all things Costa Rica and his recommendations were always fantastic. He absolutely went above and beyond to make sure we had the trip of a lifetime and I can’t thank him enough 🫶🏻
Jose was a brilliant tour guide on the Costa Rica Gals Who Travel. As soon as we met Jose, he was so friendly and welcoming. Always approachable if you needed any help and brought such a positive energy to the trip. His recommendations were great and was very knowledgeable about all places in Costa Rica we visited. He was also great at spotting wildlife from sloths to whales! I would definitely go on another tour with Jose as the guide. The overall trip had a great mix of included excursions and extras from night safari to an island tour. It’s a great way to explore Costa Rica!
Jose was great fun, it was lovely to see the local spots from a local himself. It was also nice to have a male figure on the Gals who travel trip as it made us all feel a lot safer. The whole process was smooth and it was great not to have to think about anything logistical!
