Rotorua Duck Tours is the first, and still the only, company in New Zealand to provide the unique and exciting opportunity to discover a special part of New Zealand in an authentic amphibious WWII landing craft.
The business is a family affair owned by brothers Peter and Trevor Weir and their families. The idea of the ‘Duck’ was conceived during a family Christmas get together, but unlike other good (and bad) ideas discussed while on holiday the family team decided to actually make it happen! After sourcing and purchasing an authentic WWII landing craft Rotorua Duck Tours was born.
Operations begun in December 2003 and shortly after a second duck was purchased from Queenstown, NZ. A third duck has been purchased from Oregon, USA and should be operational in the future. The growth of Rotorua Duck Tours has been a true testament to the success of their fun and informative Rotorua sightseeing tours.
Rotorua Duck Tours provides a special insight into the history of the city and the people as well as showing off the spectacular natural New Zealand scenery Rotorua has to offer. “I think people appreciate that we have a unique product that offers a versatile Rotorua experience that’s fun, educational and an adventure all ages can enjoy” says Trevor.
