The Trans Africa - the Cape to Cairo tour starts in Cairo and ends in Cape Town. The Trans Africa - the Cape to Cairo is an adventure tour that takes 142 days taking you from Cairo to Cape Town and through other destinations in Africa.

Cape to Cairo or Cairo to Cape - whichever way you decide to go, this is an extraordinary journey to take and we will show you the many faces of Africa. We travel the length of the Nile from Alexandria, through Egypt and cross the Sahara through the deserts of Sudan. In Khartoum at the confluence of the Blue and White Nile, we head east into the highlands of Ethiopia following the river to its source in Lake Tana and the spectacular Blue Nile Falls.

Heading south along Ethiopia's Great Rift Valley, we enter the deserts of Northern Kenya, and then on along the Rift to the wonderful game filled plains of East Africa. From Kenya, we rejoin the great river at Jinja where the White Nile pours out of Lake Victoria and then visit the Nile's other great waterfall at Murchison Falls National Park.

No visit to Africa is complete without a comprehensive understanding of the wildlife and its place within the ecosystem and on this trip you will visit over 20 different wildlife reserves and national parks. Equally crossing Africa is about understanding the huge diversity of its culture, its peoples and their history. This journey has it all.

Local Payment The local payment is a group fund, paid separately from the trip price on the first day of the tour. It covers everything that the group does together on the ground. This is primarily hotel accommodation and campsite fees, meals whilst camping (but not while eating in restaurants), and included activities and puts money directly back to the local community. The local payment, or kitty system, is unique to overlanding tours and provides maximum flexibility and best value on the road - you can see exactly what is being paid for, you get everything at cost price, it keeps costs competitive by leveraging group expenses and saves on administrative costs. The fund is run by the tour guide, and any excess left over at the end is returned equally to the group. Local prices are estimated in USD when we print the brochure then reviewed monthly as local costs and exchange rates vary throughout the year. It's therefore important once you book your trip to check the website regularly and just before departure for any changes to the amount.
