The great white north is a wildlife-spotting dream destination, with a multitude of magnificent species dispersed throughout the land. From bison to bears and arctic hares, this sprawling northern nation has it all. And the best way to get up close (but not too close!) and personal with these majestic creatures is on our Canada wildlife tours. Keen to admire bears in their native habitat? British Columbia’s coastal temperate rainforests are awash with black bears and grizzlies—you may even spot the rare Kermode bear. Keep a keen eye out for wolves and cougars prowling these woods. A Canada cruise trip to the remote Northwest Passage is your best bet to spot the Arctic Big Five: polar bears, beluga whales, walrus, musk ox and narwhal—or hit Baffin Island for the latter. The Rockies also hosts a plethora of spritely mountain species; caribou, moose, bighorn sheep and mountain goats roam freely around Banff and beyond.

“A fantastic experience from begining to end, a wonderful group of people - locations were excellent with lots of wildlife andculture. A couple of niggles: some initial accomodation was below standard (eg: roadside motel), a seemingly perenial problem - lack of choice vegetarian option on dinner menus.”

“The scenery is stunning - not dissimilar to parts of the Alps, but a lot more of it. Our guides (Mac and MP) were both very good - knowledgeable, informative and nothing was too much trouble - and were obviously very passionate about the Rockies. Mac is a great cook, and managed to produce food you really wouldn't expect when camping - pizza and homemade granola to name two highlights.”

“This was my first holiday with this tour company and also my first small group holiday. I need not have worried on either account. From beginning to end the organisation was first class thanks to our amazing Group leader Heather and a more diverse and relaxed group of fellow travellers would have been hard to find. My concerns about my age, (there were several older than my 65 years) and the amount of walking involved were quickly dispelled and I was able to opt out of hkes to sketch and paint instead.”

Travel tips for Canada Wildlife Tours
The best wildlife seasons are spring and fall when mammals head out to hunt on either side of their winter hibernations. Dawn and dusk tend to see more activity.
Be careful. Canadian wildlife can be dangerous, so it’s worth enlisting professional help. Expert guides lead all our Canada wildlife tours to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip.
Don’t crowd around or encircle any animals; this makes them feel threatened. Remain a safe distance away and snap your photos through a telescopic lens.
Never feed any wildlife because handouts make the animals dependent on humans. Plus, many native animals have sensitive stomachs and may become ill.
