When to go to Azerbaijan
Visit Azerbaijan during spring (April through June) and autumn (September to October) when the weather is usually balmy. However, do keep in mind that the country receives quite a bit of rainfall during the autumn season. Temperatures during the summer months (June to August) are sweltering whereas winters in the mountain areas can be bitterly cold.
How long to stay in Azerbaijan
It is possible to see the highlights of Azerbaijan in 3 days or less, although most visitors settle on trips that last between seven and ten days. While it is possible to spend 14 days or more in the country, it can drag on. We suggest that you go for at least a week-long adventure for a perfect blend of its highlights and some not-to-be-missed sideshows. Learn more.
Must-visit destinations in Azerbaijan
It would be a real shame to miss out on the ancient rock art of the Gobustan Archeological Reserve or not visit Absheron National Park, where Yanar Dag, a naturally occurring fire, burns. For those looking for more, Nabran, just three hours drive from Baku, is a must-visit destination with subtropical forest spread out over 30 kilometers of coastline. Shirvan National Park, on the other hand, is one of the best places to see the region’s wildlife, ranging from gazelles to wild boars and wolves to jackals. Xinaliq, considered to be one of the most remote villages in the country, seems frozen in time and is located high up in the Caucasus mountains, while Sheki, with its magnificent fort, hark back to the days when caravans laden with silk, jewelry, and porcelain crisscrossed the country.
