Bulgaria and Romania Tours and Trips 2024/2025

From the bustling city of Bucharest in Romania to the resort-laden Sunny Beach on Bulgaria’s Black Sea, there are so many possibilities with Bulgaria and Romania tours. Typically, these tours start and end in the two capital cities: Sofia and Bucharest. Bulgaria tours revolve around the country’s historic churches, like the Rila Monastery and Patriarchal Cathedral of St. Alexander Nevsky, and beachside towns near Nessebar. Romania tours, meanwhile, mainly concern its medieval towns and castles (Bran Castle being the top attraction), UNESCO-listed national parks, and beautiful Carpathian mountains.

Bulgaria & Romania Tour Reviews

5 - Excellent

Perfect
5 - Excellent
  • Doug H
“We booked a private 8 day tour of Romania with this travel operator and they did a fabulous job of making sure we had the best time ever!! They lined us up with a tour guide named Laurentiu. He was fantastic!!! He was extremely knowledgable of all the places we visited throughout Romania. It was all natural for him and it was not scripted and he knew the history of each sight. He was very laid back and was never in a rush. He had a great personality and a good sense of humor. He made our entire trip fun and interesting. He took us to all of the main sights on our itinerary, as well as some off the beaten path sights. We got a true understanding and feeling of what life in Romania is all about. The hotels they booked us in were all conveniently located to all of the main attractions and were all unique boutique type hotels. Lauentui knew where all the great restaurants were along the way and we ate like kings and the food was excellent. Romania is a vast and beautiful country. Everything ran smooth and was perfect. We had the best time anyone could ever ask for. We would highly recommend this company for all your travel needs throughout Romania.”
Thoroughly enjoyed the experience

“I just returned from a 2 week tour of the Balkans and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Communication leading up to the tour was exceptional. Our itinerary was fast paced and comprehensive and the sights were spectacular. Accommodations were clean and amenities sufficient for the price paid for the tour. The tour leader, bus driver and the local guides were efficient, friendly and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend this travel operator, especially for off the beaten path destinations.”
Two days tour to Maramures

“Florin is a great tour operator, very knowledgeable, very helpful, very nice, very comfortable on this tour, and very friendly. If I go to another tour I want him to be our guide.”

If you’re not sure how to travel between these two countries or the best time to plan a trip to Romania and Bulgaria, here’s a guide that you can follow:

Getting from Bulgaria to Romania

If you’re traveling between Bulgaria and Romania, you are more than likely to take the Sofia-Ruse route. Situated on the bank of the Danube river, Ruse is a border town in Bulgaria facing the Romanian city of Giurgiu on the opposite side of the bank. The quickest way to travel between the two capitals is on a bus, which takes around 7 hours 35 minutes. If you opt to take a train, the journey could take over 11 hours. And if you have a private transfer service on your Bulgaria and Romania tour, you can further shorten the travel time to just 5 hours, provided you do not make many stopovers along the way.
