This tour is perfect for those who are interested in Hungarian Jewish culture and who would like to experience sightseeing on the Danube on an evening cruise.
Get an overview of the past and present of Hungarian Jewry and understand the differences between Hungary's main religious wings. With the help of English-speaking guides, you will learn about the most important chapters of the history and culture of the Hungarian Jewry. The first part of the tour, starting at either 10 am or 2 pm, includes a walking tour of Dohány Street Synagogue, the Jewish Museum, Martyrs' Cemetery, Raoul Wallenberg Memorial Park, the Tree of Life, Heroes' Temple and the Jewish Center. After a short break, we continue our walk through the Jewish Quarter on the streets of the former ghetto, where synagogues, monuments, kosher restaurants and kosher shops can be found. Your guide will tell you important facts and local stories from this area, while you also learn more about Budapest.
During our journey we will also visit the Memorial Park dedicated to Carl Lutz and the famous Gozsdu Passage. The third station of the Synagogue Triangle is the Kazinczy Street Synagogue, which is one of the largest operating orthodox synagogues in Europe, built in art-nouveau style. At the end of the tour, you have two options: join us for cake in the glatt kosher Fröhlich confectionery or receive 10% discount at the glatt kosher Carmel restaurant.
The second part of this tour package, starting at 7 pm, includes a two-hour sightseeing and dinner cruise along the Danube. Budapest is at its most romantic during the evening, with the Danube reflecting the lights and view of the city. The Hungarian capital has most of the amazing sights right next to the Danube, the river that connects 7 European countries and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In two hours, you will see the House of Parliament, the Royal Palace, the Gellért Hill and the six bridges of great historical importance.
We'll start the cruise from the oldest bridge of the city, the iconic Chain Bridge. An open buffet dinner is available for guests who want to try out the traditional Hungarian cuisine. The meals on our ships are prepared by Chef Molnárka Péter, including various Hungarian dishes, cold entreés, international favourites, vegetarian meals, desserts and much more. A welcome drink and two more drinks while cruising are also included in the ticket price.
While enjoying your dinner, you will be listening to three live artists from the Rajkó Gypsy Orchestra. The show features an extremely talented player of the famous Hungarian instrument, the "cimbalom." During the performance, guests will have a chance to ask for their favourite songs from the artists to play.
Listen to the music, savour your dinner, and enjoy the panorama of the city best seen from the open upper deck of the boat.
