Budapest Tour Reviews

Prague to Budapest trip
4 - Very Good

“A beautiful way to see a little bit of 4 countries. I wish we had a rest day in Vienna as we had very little time to see anything. Two shorter ride days in Hungary could have easily been combined to give a day to see amazing Vienna. The first three riding days in Czech Republic were hillier than I expected as the trip notes say it is not a hilly ride. Day 3 in particular was a long, hilly day. Do some hill riding before you go. The trip could have been better organized at times and some of the hotels were in rather poor condition, but overall, I enjoyed the trip. The scenery is incredible and I will visit these countries again!”

“This ride visits beautiful cities and villages as well as travelling through lovely countryside especially in the Czech republic. It also gave us a chance to learn more about the remarkable history of the countries we passed through.”
Cycling Prague to Budapest

“This was a wonderful trip. The towns through Czech and the countryside into Vienna are beautiful. The Route flattens out once on the Danube and the scenery to Budapest is OK but the first part of the trip is the most scenic. It is pretty full on cycling and at times I felt like all I did was cycle, eat, sleep, but I really enjoyed it and came home much fitter than when I left.”

Budapest - Tour Highlights and Travel Tips

Anyone who decides to spend their holidays in Budapest will get to experience the intriguing blend of the European bohemian vibe and accelerated urban buzz, all set against the majestic backdrop of Habsburg-style architecture. A trip to Budapest will allow you to unlock cultural riches and off-the- beaten-path spots hiding in various nooks scattered around the dynamic Hungarian capital.

Travel Highlights

  • The eye-catching Hungarian Parliament building is also the third largest parliament building in the world. The symbol of Budapest features a stunning white Gothic façade, 10 courtyards and a whopping 619 rooms.
  • Buda Castle, an opulent royal building, is also among Budapest’s most famouslandmarks. This glorious structure sits atop of the Castle Hill overlooking the Danube, and can be seen from various points in the city.
  • A stroll along the breathtaking Chain Bridge will open up a panorama of both Buda and Pest districts, as well as the Danube River that flows between them.
  • Memento Park is an open-air museum located outside of the city center. It features a vast collection of now disused public works of art originating from the country’s socialist era.

Travel Tips

  • No visit to Budapest is completed without trying the belly-warming Hungarian snack called lángos. This delicious doughy delicacy, usually topped with cheese or sour cream, will be a welcome energy-booster after a day of sightseeing.
  • To truly soak up the city’s buzzing bar scene, make sure to visit one of Budapest’s many ruin bars. Once existing as stores or warehouses, these repurposed spaces are nowadays among the hottest nightlife spots for the Hungarian youth. You’ll find most of them in the old District VII.
  • For ultimate relaxation, check out one of the iconic Budapest spas. Nothing will be more satisfying after a day of sightseeing than unwinding in one of the lush thermal baths. Two of the most popular spas in Budapest are Széchenyi and Gellért.
