From there you will drive over the Corinth Canal, which separates the Peloponnese Peninsula from the rest of Greece, and travel to Corinth, an ancient city which several empires have fought over throughout history. Your next stop will be in Mycenae, the city of King Agamemnon, where you will see the Cyclopean Walls and the Lion Gate before you explore Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympics. Visit the Archaeological Museum of Olympia, known for its priceless collection of exhibits, and travel through the Peloponnese Mountains to Patras, known for its medieval castle that was built on the highest spot in town. Make your way over to Ancona to board your ferry to Italy. Sailing through the Adriatic, you will pass by the islands of Ithaca and Kefalonia before you arrive in Loreto, a beautiful hill town and a popular pilgrimage site. Your journey will take you to Rome, the capital of Italy, where you will see the Colosseum, a world-famous landmark, and cross the border into Vatican City.
