Beautiful views Reviewed Tour: Gokyo Lake and Everest Base Camp + Cho La Pass

“Absolutely incredible trek. Great views and not so overcrowded. If you like to get away from all the people and walk in peace and quiet this is a great route. Challenging although not to difficult, the climbs of Kala Patthar and Gokyo Ri were excellent.”
EBC trek + Island Peak trek Reviewed Tour: Island Peak Climbing Trek

“We did the 18 day EBC + Island Peak climb with Nepal Guide Treks, Sonam as our guide, and it was amazing! Our previous mountain history was just a couple fourteeners in Colorado, so this was a big step up, but we felt very prepared and taken care of. Prakash is great about quickly returning emails/answering questions (which trust me, we had plenty of!) We had exercised A LOT prior to the trip, so early on I think we were easy clients for Sonam. But when it came to the actual Island Peak climbing day we needed help with some of the actual mountaineering stuff, and he was awesome! And even earlier on in the trip, he was great about giving us lots of cool info along the trek, pointing out and naming mountains, etc.

This trip was beyond amazing, and Nepal Guide Treks took care of everything so it all went seamless and smooth. If you’re thinking about this trip; to just do EBC, just be in good shape to truly enjoy it. If you want to climb Island Peak and haven’t done and prior technical mountains (or maybe just some in Colorado or something like us), either try to get SOME mountaineering experience with ropes/down climbing before you go out, or just be prepared to learn out there but know you may have a few hiccups that your guide will be helping you through too! Anyways.. highly recommend this trip with this group!!”
The tour operator responded on :
“Namaste Brittney Yuronich,
Thank you so much for your review.
We are pleased to know that you had great Experience with our Team for your EBC Trek with island peak Climbing.

Yes please, you are right " If you want to climb Island Peak and haven’t done and prior technical mountains either try to get SOME mountaineering experience with ropes/down climbing before you go out, or just be prepared to learn out there but know you may have a few hiccups that your guide will be helping you through too".

We are always been excited to welcome you for more adventure in Nepal.”

“Trek was great had some awesome views and perfect weather at base camp and poon hill.
Our guide Megendra did an awesome job of keeping us safe, warm, dry, and well fed. He is very ambitious, passionate about trekking and knowledgable for hes age.

We did have one problem during the trek with one of the guest houses in Upper Dovan, they had a rodent infestation and you could hear rats running through the walls and we saw one in our room. - not really the fault of the guide or company however but i would reccomend not staying in that guest house if u have the option.”

Asia - Tour Highlights and Travel Tips

Despite being the biggest and most populated continent, a trip to Asia still holds an air of mystery and intrigue for those unacquainted with her vast and ever-changing beauty. With 48 countries ranging from sub-arctic to tropical climates and thousands of indigenous languages spread across rich and ancient cultures, Asia is a place that enthralls travellers year after year.

It can often seem difficult to know where to start when considering holidays in Asia. Don’t let the gigantic size of Asia intimidate you. With enough research and some careful planning, you can see the best that Asia has to offer. Take part in a traditional Japanese tea ceremony, conquer the Great Wall of China, bask in the glory of the Taj Mahal or wander through the bright lights during a night out in Bangkok.

Travel Highlights

  • Skip the souvenir shops and peruse some of the largest markets in the world. From street food to artisanal goods, Asia’s markets have it all like the Chatuchak market in Bangkok, which is one of the world’s largest weekend markets or the Sukawati art market in Bali. Tsukiji fish market in Tokyo offers some of the freshest sushi you’ll ever taste.
  • Explore your spirituality by practising yoga and meditation in Varanasi along the Ganges river or visit a Buddhist monastery in Tibet.
  • Stroll through the rice terraces of blissful Bali.
  • Explore Northern Thailand, Central Laos or Northern Vietnam on two wheelers with the wind in your hair.
  • Get glitzy in Almaty, Kazakhstan’s bustling bars, sophisticated shopping malls and mesmerising museums.
  • Experience an interesting mix of Catholic and indigenous tradition during the Philippines biggest mardis gras: Ati-Atihan festival in Kalibo which takes place on Shrove Tuesday of the Christian calendar.
  • Embark on one of the longest train journeys in the world: the Trans-Asian Railway through China, Korea, Mongolia, Russia and Kazakhstan.

Travel Tips

  • Whatever your mode of transport - whether it’s a tuk tuk or a taxi - always ask a local how much it should be beforehand and agree on a price before you take the ride.
  • Manners matter. In Thailand, food is often served with a fork and a spoon. The fork is only used to place food on the spoon and it is often seen as rude to put the fork in your mouth.
  • Always keep toilet paper or tissues with you, and hand sanitizer.
  • Perfect planning is never possible, and having some gaps in your schedule means you can take locals up on their superior suggestions for a day sightseeing.
  • While most countries in Asia use different currencies, having some spare USD will always be helpful. Some accommodations will charge in USD, for example.
  • A bout of stomach flu is normal for first time travellers in Asia. Stick to busy restaurants or food stalls where the locals go and you’ll be fine.
  • Watch what you wear. Most cultures are very accepting of visitors and their unusual get-up. But being respectful of the local culture will go a long way. In India, for example, covering arms and legs will be appreciated, and removing shoes before entering someone’s home will make you a few extra friends.
