Ol Doinyo Lengai is situated in the North of Tanzania close to Lake Natron. Ol Doinyo Lengai is 2890m high. The Maasai call it a sacred volcano and believe that Ol Doinyo Lengai is the creation of their God Engai and his home. They believe that Ol Doinyo looks over the people and cattle.
Ol Doinyo Lengai gives hiking fans an opportunity to experience a breathtaking hike in a short time and amazing natural surrounding. It is a perfect alternative for those who do not have the time or experience to climb Kilimanjaro but still want to have a trekking adventure in Tanzania.
Not only will the hike take your breath away, but you will also be rewarded with beautiful landscape surrounding Ol Doinyo Lengai.
Day 1: Arusha – Lake Natron
After breakfast we will be driving from Arusha to Lake Natron, where you will have time to experience the lake and spend the night before you start your hike the next day.
Day 2: Ol Doinyo Lengai Summit – Lake Natron Campsite
You will start your hike right after midnight and will reach the summit in time to see the sunrise. Once you reach the top, you will get a breathtaking 360° view over Lake Natron. If you are lucky and the sight is clear you will also be able to see Mount Meru and its bigger brother Mount Kilimanjaro.
After your hike you will be returning to Lake Natron Campsite, where you will spend another night.
Day 3: Lake Natron – Arusha
Today enjoy the surroundings of Lake Natron before you return to Arusha in the evening.
It is also possible to do this tour in 4 days
