Tarangire in the dry season easily rivals it for animal densities. As well as the herds of elephant Tarangire is home to buffalo, lion, wildebeest, zebra and gazelle while gerenuk and fringe-eared oryx are 'local specialties'. Lake Burungi's marshy shores are the lure for these mammals and the waters attract many beautiful bird species, too. Look out for giant kingfishers, hoopoes and the delightfully-named white-bellied go-away bird. Tarangire is noted for its splendid baobab trees, rolling savannah and acacia woodland. Day 7 Ngorongoro Crater To Arusha or to the Aiport 12 hours Eco lodge

Today may be 'departure day', but there will be plenty of time to enjoy another true spectacle, before your thoughts turn to home.

First, there's the volcanic caldera (the world's largest), full of grassland, forest and swamp, a setting of jaw-dropping beauty. Secondly, the permanent water of the crater floor supports a resident population of more than 25,000 large mammals. Here you'll find many of the reasons you chose to come on safari: elephant, lion, leopard, hyena, jackal, wallowing hippo, waterbuck, baboons and rare black rhino.

Sharing this awesome space with the animals are the Maasai, grazing their cattle in an area which has been a separate conservation area since 1956 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1978. This harmonious co-habitation of man and beast makes Ngorongoro unique in Tanzania and your driver guide will be pleased to explain this incredible co-existence to you.

After game drive, we have our picnic lunch in the crater before we return to the airport.

An A+ safari and beach holiday
From United States of America USA At

“We just returned from an amazing two week safari and beach holiday organised by Arend Safaris. We are a family of five - two adult children, and a five year old.

We have been thoroughly impressed with Arend safaris throughout the entire planning and execution of our trip. We planned our trip with Thomas over the course of a few months and were grateful for Thomas's helpful and prompt replies to our numerous emails! Thomas was very knowledgeable about Tanzania and what we could expect, and was flexible in terms of tailoring the trip and accommodation to suit our needs.

The safari portion of our trip was the highlight. After a brief delay in Rwanda, we landed in Kilimanjaro and were picked up by our amazing guide, Baraka. We stayed one night at the African Tulip - very nice, and set off the next morning for the Ngongorongo Crater. From the moment we entered the conservation area we saw so many animals - far more than we would have expected on our first day - and all thanks to Baraka! He can spot animals miles away. We had close encounters with a lion, and saw zebra, elephants, giraffes, buffalo and two black rhinos! We spent a night at the Ngongorongoro Farmhouse - again, really great accommodation. The rooms are huge and the grounds are spacious.

We headed to the Serengeti the following day. We had an amazing three days on safari - and saw soooo many animals. We got nice and close to lions and elephants, and even saw two leopards in one day! During our time in the Serengeti we stayed at the Serengeti Kati Kati Camp. This accommodation was exceptional - the tents are all set a little way apart, and you really feel like you're in the middle of it all - which you are. The staff at the Camp are really great, they are all super friendly and make a big effort to ensure you are happy and are having fun. They light a campfire which everyone sits around each night before dinner, before serving dinner in the main tent. Your guide eats dinner with you, which we really enjoyed too.

Our guide, Baraka, was great. He was extremely knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour. We felt that he fitted in with us perfectly. He was flexible and relaxed and made the whole safari a breeze. We felt very lucky to have him as a guide.

Following our safari we flew direct from the Serengeti to Zanzibar with Auric Air - it was a great flight, with lots to see out the window. We finished our trip with 6 days in Zanzibar. We stayed at the Flame Tree Cottages in Nungwi, a beautiful part of the island. We visited Stonetown and Prison Island - and meet some very old tortoises. The accommodation and the beaches were great.

Overall, an amazing trip made simple and stress free by booking with Arend Safaris. We are very happy and would thoroughly recommend The Arend safaris to any travellers.”

“The Arend Safari was very helpful/thorough in helping to plan to trip. They also helped us arrange discounts at the resorts (we saved money versus booking directly). Their tour guide was excellent. Overall, we had a great time in Tanzania, and Arend Safaris did an excellent job in helping us to plan the trip, and we enjoyed their tour guide. We would highly recommend others to use their travel planning services. Thank you”
Perfect Trip To Tanzania

“We just got back from a 7 day visit to Tanzania through Arend Safaris and there is not a single they I would do differently. Tom and the rest of the Access team took care of everything from soup to nuts and had all the patience to answer even the silliest of questions. Every detail was handled to perfection and their team of guides were also first class and knowledgeable.

Here's the bottom line: There are many companies from which to choose from to plan your safari and my sense is that they all do a very good job. I chose arend because they are a small outfit that offer that personal touch. After speaking with a few companies I knew that Arend was for me the minute I got off my first call with Karen. I couldn't be happier about our Safari experience and would recommend call them before making your final decision!”
