The Hidden Tribes Of Ethiopia trip starts and ends in Addis Ababa. It is an adventure tour that takes 7 days taking you through Lake Langano, Addis Ababa and Turmi in Ethiopia. Hidden Tribes Of Ethiopia is a guided small group trip that includes accommodation in hotels, transport, meals and others.

Visit the fascinating tribes of the Omo Valley in southern Ethiopia. For thousands of years the Omo Valley in southern Ethiopia was a crossroads for droves of people migrating to new lands. Today, it is undoubtedly one of the most unique places on earth because of the sheer diversity of tribal groups that live in this remote area of the Great Rift Valley. This is an extraordinary opportunity to immerse in the fabric of some of these societies, including the Mursi, Hamer and Karo tribes, each with their distinct culture. Expect a real adventure with conditions basic; the Omo Valley being an incredible reminder of an Africa that has not yet seen modernisation. From Addis Ababa we drive to the Omo Valley region and enjoy a boat trip on Lake Chamo to spot hippos and an array of water birds. For the next few days we move from village to village, witnessing traditional lifestyles. The Mursi traditions, whose women insert large clay plates in their lower lips, and the Hamer, who scar and paint their bodies in a mark of their culture, are incredibly fascinating. Returning to Addis Ababa at the conclusion of our trip we reflect on this memorable experience of untouched cultures, ceremonies and astounding natural environments.

“Our trek to Gokyo Lakes and Renjo La was made all the more special by the outstanding care and individual attention we were given by our trek leader, sherpa guides, cook and porters. The views on this trek are outstanding and the path to Gokyo is much quieter than the busy EBC trek. We were lucky to have a small group of like minded individuals who were also respectful and considerate travellers whilst possessing the most important ingredient - a sense of humour.”

“I thoroughly enjoyed this trip, having previously climbed Kilimanjaro, I had an idea of the conditions I could expect as I gained altitude. I did train harder than for previous treks. I was the only Brit with 12 Australians and thoroughly enjoyed their company, a good mixed group that all got on well together. I chose World Ex. as all meals were provided on the trek, a good decision for me. The kit supplied, and tents with camp beds was a bonus, better than previous organised treks with different operators. Unfortunately due to cloud at Kathmandu airport we all had to fly to Lukla by helicopter to start the trek. An extra payment in US dollars had to be paid at this point, my travel insurance company is saying I am not covered, a covering letter from WE was provided to all on the trek. I can only suggest reading the small print to ensure any additional transport cost DURING THE TREK is covered. Our trek leader Subal was brilliant, as were his assistants and all the team. Subal helped us complete this trek by monitoring everyone, with his comprehensive experience and medical kit we all completed the trek, no one helicoptered out, unlike other groups we chatted to. The trek length helped us to get used to the altitude, but lack of oxygen as we got higher affected us all, again, monitored by Subal and the guides, the pace was adjusted to suit our group. My tips, train before going, very cold when sun was not shining and at night, make sure your water bottles can be filled with boiling water and use as hot water bottles, changing currency in Kathmandu, and Namche Bazaar is easy, Aus and US dollars, Euro and UK pound. Tips for the team was sorted before the end of trek, have cash available. A thoroughly enjoyable trip, I am still processing my achievement as I sort my photo's.”

“The Annapurna Circuit is a challenge, but making it to the top of Thorong La pass was well worth the effort. Having a great team leader & support staff makes it a lot easier. Would recommend this trip & company.”
