  • Moderate and challenging walks in the heart of Tyrol
The Walking in the Austrian Tyrol tour starts and ends in Achenkirch. The Walking in the Austrian Tyrol is a Trekking tour that takes 8 days taking you through Achenkirch, Austria and other destinations in Austria.

Stretching along the valley at the northern end of Tyrol’s largest lake, the quiet village of Achenkirch is the perfect base for a week of walking. Surrounded by the lush meadows and jagged peaks of the Rofan and Karwendel mountain ranges, the walking trails throughout the area are plentiful. With such a great variety of walks, two grades are offered each day (moderate and challenging) with one leader escorting each grade.

After 35 years in Trins, we have now moved our walking holiday in the Austrian Tyrol to Achenkirch.
Day 1 Start Achenkirch.

Fly to Munich airport; transfer to Achenkirch. In the evening the leaders will hold a welcome meeting to discuss the week ahead and give advice on the local area.

Day 2 Ascend the valley to the Seewaldhütte (1582m); descend to hotel.

We walk directly from the hotel up a gently climbing valley to a beautiful path with extensive panoramic views which leads us to the Seewaldhütte (1582m) for lunch; we then descend by an alternative route to the hotel. 20Km; 650m ascent & descent; max altitude 1582m.

Day 3 Bus and cable car to start ascent of Bärenkopf (1991m); return to Seespitze; ferry back to Achenkirch.

We take a short bus journey to Pertisau and then the Karwendel cable car to start our walk to the summit of Bärenkopf (1991m) with its magnificent views of the lake below. Return via the Weissenbachtal to Seespitze for a ferry boat ride back to Achenkirch. 17Km; 550m ascent; 1040m descent; max altitude 1991m.

Day 4 Walk up to farm of Pasillalm (1680m); descend to Pertisau; ferry back.

We walk directly from the hotel to climb steadily on a good track to the mountain farm of Pasillalm at 1680m before descending steeply in places to the charming little town of Pertisau to catch a lake ferry boat back to Achenkirch. 19Km; 860m ascent & descent.

Day 5 A free day to relax or enjoy optional activities.
